    Second actually, behind Giovinco.

Very sad to see him go. I sang his praises immediately on these boards from the time he arrived early in 17 when many people were still skeptical about him. At one point I thought he would be back in Europe for the 2018 season. Huge loss for TFC today, and I fear the exodus has just begun.

He does some things better than Seba and vice versa. I guess this will allow us to see Seba as the #10 a bit more often. His passing is almost as good as Victor's.

I'm happy for Victor but this is such a downer!

The way some of the reports read it sounds like he was approached, then he went to the club and asked to be moved.

When I saw this alert come over my phone it was like a kick in the nuts. I knew this day would eventually come, I just was not expecting it so soon. I was hoping for one more year of magic, but unfortunately that will not happen. He was the missing piece that brought the cup home and was hands down the best midfielder our club has seen to date. Gracias Victor and may you find success and happiness in your future endeavors.

When the team needed someone to settle us because we suddenly couldn't take PKs, who was the guy who got us back on track? - Victor.

First goal, away leg, in a very tough series against NYRB - Victor.

Winning goal against Columbus, who had the sublime last ball? (with the split second delay that made it work for Jozy) - Victor.

Clinching goal vs Seattle - Victor.

    Siempre Victor.

I was really looking forward to this season with Victor playing healthy in most of the games. Seems like he sorted out the injury issues he was plagued with last year according to him. Kind of bummed we won't see it now. Hard to turn down an opportunity like that for his family though. I wish him all the best. We were definitely a better team with VV in it even when he wasn't at 100%.

The most complete player to put on a red shirt. His departure leaves a massive hole that will be very hard to fill.

Actually he was only there for the 2017 final. But put TFC over the top in terms of 2016 vs 2017.

As I told a friend of mine, my favourite highlight of VV was his 30-40 yard pass, on the ground to Giovinco to send him on a break in the 2017 MLS Cup. Frei did well to tip Seba's shot wide but if it had gone in, surely it would have been seen as one of the greatest MLS Cup goals ever, simply based on that pass.

I also loved his interviews. He exuberated a real passion for the game which made him a joy to listen to.

    All the best VV!

What a player! We will never see someone of his combined skills again - would have been in the first team of a truly legendary Barcelona team but for his untimely knee injury. We were blessed to have his skill, passion, vision, class and determination. Cannot begrudge him the move, but sad for us and for the team that he will be gone.

I did a bit of quick research on the Qatar league

there are 12 teams in the league

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qatar_Stars_League

    average stadium capacity around 15,000

    average salary
Average Monthly Salary matching your search criteria
    Monthly Avg. 0
Average Monthly Salary Qatar Star League in Qatar QAR 11,999 10,800 13,200
    QAR 11,999 is around $4381 CDN$
    or around $50k /yr CDN
and this mystery team are going to pay VV $4million/yr

    yeah right

I believe he is going to the same team as Xavi, Al Sadd. So I assume they have money. They came 3rd/4th in the AFC Champions League last year and are top of the table this season.

I am sure they have the money. Xavi is supposedly on 10M euros a year, Gabi on 9M, then 25 Qataris making 50K I guess.

I personally need to see more than a random tweet to believe the 4M for VV, as it defies all previous experience - I see how places like Qatar, UAE and China are splashing their cash, and I have respect for the thought process in leagues like that. They wildly overpay, but in a very particular way.

I hope he is making that kind of coin. I really do.

The guy had vision that was rarely ever seen at BMO - and never before seen in a reds shirt. He set the bar high for what a creative midfielder on our team should be.

Frei might have said something to him earlier in the match, but Vazquez had a bit of that in him... I remember he did the same thing to Robles when we played Red Bulls in their house, the game that was nearly our 7th straight win. Ricketts scored that rebound goal that was pulled back for offside interference and Vazquez got right in his face showboating about it. Didn't work out so well in that case.

I had a perfect view of that pass to Seba in the MLS cup final sitting in 227. I don’t think i’ll ever see a better one. Yes Caldwell, that was on purpose ya dolt!

Will be missed! Thanks to Victor for a couple great seasons.

I remember you were the guy who translated the Spanish broadcast version in the same thread that this clip was in the next day.

I believe every Qatari gets a basic salary / great social benefits from the oil money just for being ethnically Qatari. I read this somewhere but dont take my word 100% so could make sense why the monthly player salary is low.
