No GAM from the sale. You can only convert some of the fee to GAM once you recoup your out of pocket costs. Fee aint big enough for that.

Atlanta will be able to for Almiron sale as the fee they got for him is bigger than the salary paid to him over two years and the transfer fee they paid for him.

I'm told Toronto FC has its sights on Algerian playmaker Sofiane Hanni, currently at Spartak Moscow, as a DP replacement for Giovinco. TFC could definitely use his creativity after the departures of Giovinco and Victor Vasquez

Where do you see that? Looks like he signed a 3 and a half year deal January 2018, not this year.

If they get rid of VDW, they will go back out and shop for rb. I think they leave money to sign someone in the summer.

A 76 OVR player(Hanni) and $3,000,000 which we will not see any profit for an 82 overall Giovinco according to FIFA 19, i know EA rating arent always accurate, but if this is the solution for this problem, management needs to step down

I get that it's all about the playoffs for them, but if I had Season Tickets and the guy can't play in a game even after a day off (never mind back-to backs) when he is healthy, I'd be pissed to be paying that kind of money to see him sit on a bench waving a towel (and yes, he will be gone next summer with or without all of this catering to "load management/rest" - it's not even a debate he will be in LA or some such warm weather locale)......
Well said. I noticed too that Seba became a bit more petulant on the field on 2018 than previous years; sometimes his attitude was cringeworthy. As you said this is a business and he went to a new employers for better compensation and the TFC management wasn't agreeing with his terms. This is a team and they have to look to the future.

I'll miss watching Seba as he's the best player we've had. But let's hope that the 2019 TFC team will be successful in it own way. I'll hold judgement on the management's decisions until the team is playing and getting (hopefully) good results.

Like many of you, I'm heartbroken that he's leaving for the memories that were provided to us, but I'm much more disappointed and disgusted with him than in management or anything else, and I'm not upset that he's gone with the way he's chosen to go out. As far as management is concerned, they may have botched the progression of Giovinco's time here. I stress the term "may have", because I don't think the two sides were ever close and that's why there wasn't much point in having a discussion before this.

You've all seen it, the incessant whining, the lack of self awareness, etc. He was the highest paid player in the league for a reason, to do the job of being its best player and to transform the organization, and he was paid very handsomely for that. He seems to think that he deserves to be paid MORE for past performance, because let's face it, he's been on the decline since 2017, so it certainly isn't for future performance. Somewhere, you have to draw the line. His scathing instagram post towards management is really icing on the cake of where his head is at, though it's clear he wasn't the one who actually wrote the post. I unconditionally refuse to believe someone who says management is not committed to winning when the following things are reportedly true:

    - TFC offered him similar money to Josef Martinez, a player who has outperformed Giovinco in the last 2 years. His salary would have still remained higher than the likes of Wayne Rooney. If you've been following Giovinco since he got here in 2015, he's not the same player and has clearly declined some. One would be daft to believe he's not going to continue in this direction.
    - He chose to go to Saudi Arabia, to win? Win what in Saudi Arabia? The lifestyle there resembles nothing of that here too and not in a good way, hearing from friends who worked there.
    - They're paying him $10 Million a year. Nobody else was offering that money and TFC would have been stupid to match or even come close.

It's clear that the party not committed to winning and making a proper lifestyle choice was Giovinco. This was always and only ever about getting a maximum pay day and not about "home", whatever that means. Shame on you, Seba, though I guess this behaviour consistent with his incessantly whiny attitude which I quickly came to loathe. With that disgusting and unnecessary instagram post, he's tarnished his legacy here in my mind. There's no reason why he couldn't have gone out on a high in his goodbye message that would have immortalized him.

Thanks for the memories, I guess, but don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Giovinco was 76 rated in FIFA 15 before his move to TFC, FWIW.

I swear I thought only transfer fees counted, not salaries for GAM calculation but after rereading the rules, I think you might be right. Oh well

"Close to agreeing a DP deal". I missed that before.

    So definitely not Alessandrini. Interesting.
