Ok, easy on this one, Lemieux scores on his first shift as a rookie and 43 goals in the same year. I am Luke warm on Hamilton and hope he can break out but there is no comparison.

You have made my point - people were critical of Mario's intensity etc but were wrong, he was one of the best ever. We don't know about a players intensity (unless they are outright lazy - which Hamilton is not, he hustled in adverse conditions last night.) . Hamilton may or may not mature into an effective goalscorer but it isn't anything to do with our perception of his intensity.

Sure, I'll take Saief, on a small fee... to replace Delgado in the starting 11.

I would still expect a more suitable option up front with Altidore though.

He doesn't have good stats so he better not be a TAM player.

On Sunday, during the top match against Club Brugge, Kenny Saief was in the stands. Lost again, for the fourth time in a row. The left winger seems to be tired and now wants a solution.

Saief will no longer get any chances at Anderlecht this season. Short incursions, in which he can hardly show his value. "Too short to really be able to show themselves", according to his broker Dudu Dahan in Het Nieuwsblad.

"Kenny did not get a fair chance at Anderlecht this season, why not? No idea, we did not get any explanation, but this season is a big disappointment for him, he does not feel supported in the club anymore. trust needs to perform well, he never felt that this season. "

Saief cost Anderlecht more than 3.5 million euros, but now disappears along a back door. "There is contact with a club from the MLS for a four-month lease," says Dahan. "It's an interesting option for Kenny, but he does not get any more opportunities at Anderlecht."

This article says a 4 month loan, which wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense for Toronto

4 months could take us to the next transfer window.

    In a different formation, obviously.

    3-5-2

    ---------Altidore-TAM
    Saief-Osorio-Pozuelo-Bradley-Auro

He would be dangerous on LW he can really cross the ball in

I see Bradley playing in front of the back four along side Delgado. Osorio fighting for a place on the wing. Basically a 4-2-3-1

With Bradley, Pozuelo and Osorio we can bring in a left midfielder/ winger and it will push Delgado out of the starting 11 in a 3-5-2 formation

How did Kenny Saief manage to play for 2 national teams, I thought once you committed to one there was no turning back a la Jonathan DE Guzman?

I just read about this. Apparently he was not cap-tied by the Israeli senior team. You can make a one-time election to switch national programs (Israeli -> US) but then you can't go back.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kenny_Saief#International
On June 3, 2017 Saief was called up by the United States men's national soccer team as part of their 40-man preliminary roster for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup. As part of his callup, Saief filed a one-time switch with FIFA, tying him permanently to the US program.

    https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019/...f-set-join-mls
Born in Florida, Saief holds American citizenship though he and his family moved back to Israel when he was 3-years-old. He represented Israel throughout his youth and even made two friendly appearances for the senior national team, but wasn't cup-tied and switched to play for the US national team, making his debut in 2017. He has made four caps with the USMNT.

The 3-5-2 is a thing of the past for this team, time to move on.

This is how he'd fit in:

    -Saief---Jozy---DeLeon-
    -------Oso----Poz--------
    ---------Bradley---------
    JMo-Mavinga-Moor-Auro
    ----------Bono-----------

Only problem is it leaves a vulnerable defense even more vulnerable with only one mid sitting in front of the defence. We'd be such a top heavy team. Also we are no longer playing the 3-5-2. Don't think we will see the traditional 4-3-3 more a variation on it

Short term loan would be in line with what we're trying to do with Menendez and just did with Janson. Also worth noting that in both instances an option to buy has been reported for around 3.5m, which coincidentally is ballpark what Kenny cost.

I'm ok with this. As long as we are bringing in players to push Delgado to the bench. I like Delgado btw, but he's not a consistent MLS player, rather a solid bench option imo

Suspect Deleon will be a bench player fighting for first team. Think we will use TAM on two wingers. Surprised we are still holding that allocation, guess we will maybe use it in the summer? Gonna need another CB bit worried as of rn

You get locked in as an international when you play in a FIFA game (ie. a world cup qualifer, continental tounament). Friendlies don't lock you in and you can apply for the switch if that's all you've done. He played two friendlies for Israel, so he was eligible to apply for the one-time switch. Diego Costa did the same. Played friendlies for Brazil and then joined Spain.

You snobs enjoy yourselves. There is nothing like a crisp Belgian white ale in the world.

EDIT: Reading about Cantillon now. I gotta try that. Although what seems to be available online (the Kriek, amber red) is not my go to choice.

FURTHER EDIT: I don’t know how anyone has an opinion on Saief if they haven’t watched a lot of Israeli league games.
