Liam Millar's contract expires June 2019. There's MLS rumors as well as many other Euro clubs. Would be amazing if TFC signed him.
Whoever rejected him 5 years ago for being too short should be shot out of a cannon.

I highly doubt Liam Millar will leave Liverpool at the moment

Urruti would have totally expected to start. Playing that much for a bench option is a waste when we desperately need a TAM CB. That's the kind of signing we just did with Aketxe. A luxury signing that ignored a real problem.

Akindele however would have been a good Ricketts replacement. He isn't much more than that but he isn't very expensive either.

What a fucking steal we should have been in for that, I'm actually a little pissed off right now
Really? He is at best a middling striker in MLS, who thinks he's better than he is. Glad we didn't go after him. If he was a Rickett's replacement, maybe, but seems a bit expensive for a benchwarmer.

We need a guy who we can count on for 6-10 goals if he has to play extended minutes. I would not consider it a luxury given how toothless we looked without Altidore who is frequently injured or unavailable.

There has to be a better backup option than cinder-block foot Ricketts, even if it’s not Urruti quality.

    This.

Thw reality is Giovinco is not the same player he was 2-3 years ago. His effectiveness is showing with his opportunity to create goals. I think he best position going forward would be in the Vasquez mold, where he can roam on the pitch. It would allow another striker (what we need) to play up top with Jozy.

As for the defenders, i dont kmow if we need a TAM CB , with Mavinga, Moor, & VdW able to play there. If we went with a TAM CB then we need to get rid of Moors - which clearly is not happening. We need to get rid of Zavaleta and bring in a better replacement with thaf 300k price tag.

Ike Opara has asked that SKC consider any trade offers for him: http://www.espn.com/soccer/sporting-...er-trading-him

Thoughts? I think I would like this move.

He's 29 with a good record of health recently (35 and 31 games played the past two years) and a reasonable salary at 342k. We would certainly need to send some TAM over plus some sweeteners probably but it would make sense if it's TAM we were going to use on a CB anyways.

Yeah I don't get the infatuation with him either. He was ok, but I don't see him going above 10 goals a season. Maybe I'm wrong, what did he have last season?

Guys, I said it last off season and I'm saying it again: We need a back-up striker that's good enough to start. That's gonna be a TAM player.

If it's not Urutti that's fine, but that seemed a steal for a guy that's put up good numbers in this league recently.

From a depth perspective you want a Obafemi, Dempsey and Johnson situation if you really want to maintain quality while rotating.

He has been a 1 in 4 player in MLS as a starter primarily and getting $700K. That is not good numbers for that money.

FWIW and I know he was a bench player but Rickett's goal rate was around the same per game but with much less minutes.

You can do MUCH better than Urutti for that money. MUCH better.

Looks like we have our eye on somebody. Cost us $150K in various allocation so it must be someone decent.

No, it's pretty much a guarantee. You don't trade for an allocation spot if you're not going to use it.

Here is a list of allocation order-eligible players from the MLS site (may not be exhaustive right now as the last update says Dec 2017 but it's a start):

    Anangono, Juan
    Cameron, Geoff
    Castillo, Fabian
    Flores, Junior
    Gonzalez, Giancarlo
    Gonzalez, Omar
    Green, Julian
    Johannsson, Aron
    Johnson, Fabian
    Martins, Obafemi
    Miazga, Matt
    Najar, Andy
    Poku, Kwadwo
    Pulisic, Christian
    Ream, Tim
    Rivero, Octavio
    Rochat, Alain
    Rubin, Rubio
    Sanvezzo, Camilo
    Valencia, Jose Adolfo
    Yedlin, DeAndre

Note we were linked to Rubio Rubin previously.

1 in 2 if you include assists. Ricketts is an unfair comparison because you're neglecting the fact he can't pass and has no first touch or hold-up ability.

Agreed, you can do better, but we've also seen teams do a lot worse.

    My top guess.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto

Obafemi's on a free right now just saying

But also I can see Bez salivating at adding any of the players I have in bold.

Note: Whoever we get Bez has to know that Cincinatti wouldn't claim them (or that Cincy is using their spot) if he only traded for the 2 spot

Tim Ream maybe? 31 though and had some recent injury issues. Miazga would be incredible, and a super longshot. That said the kid is MIA at Nantes where he is on loan, manger there doesnt rate him. hmmmm

As we continue our CB watch, Marc Dos Santos told Vancouver press today he doesn't expect Waston to return next season.

Hard pass on that one. I don’t need a consistent red card risk and below average passer of the ball on our back line.
