Has there been discussion about the race to beat TFC's record? I've been watching for weeks, and it seems like it's a non issue... but it's actually an interesting scenario playing out.
Red Bulls get two wins and a tie, they tie TFC's 69 point total. 3 wins, and they beat it. Entirely out of TFC's hands, and quite reachable for the Red Bulls looking at their 3 opponents... but playing in Philly might actually be where they drop those 2 points.
More interestingly is the Atlanta equation. 2 wins at home against Chicago and NE puts them at 69 points - tied with the 2017 Toronto team for most points ever in a season.
Assuming Red Bulls finish with 69 points, Atlanta will fittingly play in Toronto with the opportunity to beat the very team that owns the record.
At this point, Toronto could be out of the playoff race and playing to protect their previous record. The game becomes even more important should the Reds be in a position to win and still get the final playoff spot.
Trust me the discussion is everywhere. Nonstop posts about it on MLS website and related news outlets. Just won't be talked about much in Canada for obvious reasons
