Default Other MLS Games This Weekend - April 27-29

    Friday

    RSL @ Vancovuer 10:30pm
Sweatervest derby!!!! Petke vs. Robinson Defence vs running around a lot trying to figure it out Vancouver is the better team and should win this one but neither team is all that convincing.
    2-1 for Vancouver
    Why watch this game?
Hey, gotta do something before Dunfermline vs. Dumbarton on Saturday

    Saturday

    Montreal @ Atlanta 1pm
This is a game crying out for Edwards - Atlanta can be had out on the wings. Gare though seems to prefer his attack centrally. Montreal's defence won't be able to handle Atlanta. Could get ugly.
    4-1 for Atlanta
Why watch this game? Keep an eye on how Atlanta's defence deals with Piatti. The blueprint they use is what they will use against Seba

    DCU @ Philly 3:30pm
DCU somehow managed to survive to grab a win against Columbus. The Union is falling down towards another awful season. There is enough attack with Philly that they could turn it around against a less then steller defence.
    3-1 home win
Why watch the highlights of this game later? We play Philly in a week.

    San Jose @ Columbus 7:30pm
The two teams all the hipsters said were dark horses to do well - they have not. Columbus had a great start but SJE has been horrible in defence. Columbus biggest issue seems to be replacing the work rate of Justin Meram, with Higuain looking old and slow in the middle. SJE hasn't figured out how to use an aging Wondo. The offences are good for both teams but the home team will prevail. (If you are #savethecrew, don't count the seats.)
    3-2 for Columbus
Why watch this game? Keep an eye on Columbus - they will turn it around and will be a force to deal with in the playoffs

    SKC @ NER 7:30pm
SKC has been consistent and dangerous and is getting results. NER has bought into Friedl's system but have more holes in their defence then SKC. NER doesn't lose at home but might this week.
    2-2 draw
Why watch this game? We get to play on that carpet in two weeks.

    Houston @ Minnesota 8pm
Two teams that have struggled on defence and who's offences havn't quite clicked. Houston is the better team offensively (ignore last week of course) and might keep momentum going from last week's destruction of our C team.
    3-2 Houston win
Why watch this game? There will be some acrobatic goals scored here and some shoddy defences - oh, but don't do the drinking game for Heath histrionics alone.

    NYRB @ LAG 10:30pm
NYRB's frantic pace meets LAG's inability to figure out how to put all their pieces together. The away team is way more disciplined but that wide field isn't going to help them with their press. The Z factor might give LAG a win here but he's not an automatic 3 points by any means.
    2-1 LAG win
    Why watch this game?
    Zlatan vs. Bradley Wright Phillips

    Sunday

    Orlando @ Colorado 4pm

The cardiac kids meet the dour boys. Orlando might be figuring it out - or they just might be going on a run against teams not in form. Away & at altitude is a serious test of their speed game but the Rapids just are not all that good.
    2-1 win for Orlando
    Why watch this game?
    We play Orlando next month

    FCDallas @ NYCFC 6:30pm
    GAME OF THE WEEK
NYC has been consistent and good and pretty much unbeatable - then they ran into a chain saw out in Portland. FCD has been inconsistent, not all that good and pretty much a beatable team in every game - they haven't lost yet.
    3 -3 draw
    Why watch this game?
Two teams with smoke and mirrors defences and offences that suddenly wake up and score great goals.

    Seattle @ LAFC 9pm
SO much emotions for the first ever home game in what should be an intimidating all black stadium. LA is the better team - better coached, better attack. Only issue for LA is they can be had by a team deciding to sit somebody in behind their forwards. Will Schmetzer do that though. Seattle's defence won't be able to handle LAFC's offence.
    4-1 for LAFC
    Why watch this game?
That new stadium is supposed to be something special.

They should really just fire Robinson (and Lendarduzzi) and move on. Shame Davies is spending formative years under such a dolt.

Can't get out soon enough, he's 18 in Nov so hopefully off to europe in January. Vancouver is smothered by no ambition.

Still performing well, Davies, to set up the second goal.

He’s playing well because he’s talented, not because Robinson is doing anything to help his success.

Soooo....NYC. Nice attack. Defence? Still think we are the best balanced team in the league.

Someone remind me why we let Beitashour go, watching him play for LAFC now he is reminding how good of a wide defender he was. If it ain’t broken don’t fix it comes to mind right now.

Because we got Gregory van der Wiel and Auro Jr. for RB instead. Both cost us less against the cap than Beitashour. In the case of GvdW, that's because of the TAM that can be used to sign a player like that while reducing the cap hit. Beitashour is great, but I think we came out ahead.

Because we got van der wiel as replacement and at less of a salary cap hit due to mls weird roster and tam rules.

We also got auro on loan which doesn't require a cap hit.

Beita is a solid consistent defensive full back. Vdw is similar and better. Auro is more of an attacking full back /wide player and better. Yes auro makes some passing mistakes but if u really watch him he's always getting into space and opening channels for his teammates to pass too and can take players 1v1 all causing less pressure on rest of his team mates.

    We also got younger.

That last game was pretty boring. Lalas made a good point in the middle of it all - Seattle was a big team with big ambitions - now they are having problems recovering from losing Jordan Morris.

It was a very choppy game, unpleasant to watch. Beita and Ciman are worth watching though for LAFC. Seattle is a hot mess.

A lot of highlights defending. Cannot believe they built a stadium there. Good for them. Those Gals that gotta go to Compton for matches must be green with envy.
