Per Vanney, Morrow, Vazquez & Mavinga all took part in training today, sounds like they should be in the mix for selection. But Hagglund is out 6 weeks with a hamstring injury.
Tough news re Hagglund. He is a little snakebit.
If I am Vanney:
We needed 4 goals against Tigres, expect we'll need at least three here, which means we need 2-3 tomorrow night ...
We need goals goals goals, and to win the game at BMO. Having the lead going back to Monterrey was massive.
I want Delgado and Oso both on the field. In no universe should Zavaleta play instead of either Delgado and Osorio, when we need goals.
I think it's obvious that we go with the Seattle/Tigres 4-4-2. Teams cannot hold us for 180 minutes when we have that 4-4-2 lineup out there. In the 4-4-2, we wear teams out, all six of our goals in the Seattle/Tigres games were in the second half (same thing happened against Columbus btw, but we couldn't cash about five glorious chances).
If one of Morrow or Mavinga can't go 90, Auro comes in (and vdW plays CB if it's Mavinga who goes off).
We will see both Hasler and Aketxe. If we have less than two goals after 60 minutes, I expect Aketxe to come in at 60 minutes.
Hasler's role depends more on how VV feels. If Vazquez can only give 45 minutes, I start Hasler and bring VV on at halftime - assuming Hasler remains ahead of Aketxe in the depth chart (I think Aketxe is the more dangerous scoring threat, but he clearly hasn't shown enough yet playing defense).
One thing I like about having Hasler out there in the 4-4-2 formation is that he is effective wide, he is kind of a libero out there which causes marking problems....which lets Delgado play more beside Bradley... which means Bradley can roam forward a bit.
Hasler can also easily push up to striker, he was doing quite a bit of this in the Montreal game. I could see Vanney playing Hasler over Delgado in the second half, all else being equal, just as a way to push forward.
The second half of tomorrow nights game will determine the outcome of the tie.
Prediction: With Hasler playing wide, Michael Bradley will score a big goal tomorrow.

Bradley is due a goal. Coincidentally his last goal for club or country was at the Azteca
Another cold night at BMO tomorrow... this seems to the standard forecast for all of TFC's important games over the last couple of seasons! The goal celebrations always seem more epic in this weather.
INJURY UPDATE:
Defender Nick Hagglund will be out for approximately six weeks after sustaining “a reasonably significant hamstring strain.”
Vanney also provided updates on the trio that missed Friday night's 3-1 win over Real Salt Lake, but would not deliver a final verdict on the statuses of Chris Mavinga, Justin Morrow, or Victor Vazquez. “They all completed training today. We’ll see how things progress tomorrow.”

Was looking at the match preview on MLSsoccer.com and noticed this:
- Suspended after next caution: Emanuel Aguilera, Carlos Vargas, Cecilio Dominguez, Paul Aguilar, Alejandro Diaz
- Projected Starting XI
(4-4-2, right to left)
GK: Agustin Marchesin — Paul Aguilar, Bruno Valdez, Emanuel Aguilera, Carlos Vargas — Renato Ibarra, Mateus Uribe, Guido Rodriguez, Cecilio Dominguez — Henry Martin, Oribe Peralta
That's three quarters of the backline; either they play it safe or they get suspended for Azteca.
For what it's worth though:
- Suspended after next caution: Michael Bradley, Jozy Altidore
Bradley I am not too worried about, he managed to go unbooked in the series with Tigres, Jozy is the one that worries me.

The weather should make things spicy. Maybe soggy would be a better way to put it.
Oso > Delgado ...right now......for me
We need to attack tomorrow. Score multiple times. I think this game suites him more than marky.
All aboard the Oso train !!!
Interesting how the way players are playing ( Oso versus Axetke, for example) is making the formation pretty clear. Will change again during the season as others come on, I am sure.
Also interesting to see what the lineup will be if Vasquez cannot play. I am betting that it will be a 3-5-2. If he plays, a 4-4-2
Game day.
I say 3-1 Jozy with the brace!!
Almost no coverage of this in Mexico City newspapers. Just a couple of stories about the Osuna visit

They don't have to win this.

To be fair, that paper did put up a real story, which I missed
http://www.eluniversal.com.mx/univer...merica-cecilio
But the sports pages in the 3 Mexico City papers I checked had very little. Tons of Liga MX, some Euro Champions league, Vela (and Zlatan) in LA, Mexican baseball.... those were the stories.
America has won CCL twice recently. I think these guys are under way less pressure to win than Tigres was.

Expected line up from America tonight
Full strength bar Menez out injured------------------- Marchesin -------------------
Paul --- Edson ----- Valdez --- Vargas
-------------- Guido ---- Uribe ----------------
---- Renato --------------------- Cecilio -----
----------- Martin -------- Peralta ------------
This weather forecast .... 3 degrees, rain, wind gusts to 35km, wind chill of minus 7.....
TFC haven’t really had driving rain in the cold yet at BMO. We have had one or the other, but not both.
It can be truly, truly abominable down there. Raise your hand if you were at the 1982 Grey Cup at Exhibition Stadium. That was the worst conditions I ever saw at any sports event anywhere.
