I think TFC should accept $25M (they can keep Valencia) if Gio actually wants to go. I also don’t believe Tigres would be that crazy. China, maybe, but Tigres don't need to do that.

But I also don't see how we pay Gio close to what he is currently making, when you look at what 32 year old Valeri ($2.4M) and 33 year old Piatti make. (Note: a lot of Piatti's $4.7M in 2018 money is in respect of earlier years, his comp is back end loaded. He made $450K the last two years. He's closer to a $2-2.5M a year player.)
The $25M is obviously a joke. The real issue is, who is willing to pay him $5-7M for 2-3 years starting in 2020? That might well be Tigres.
IF (big if) Gio is unhappy re-signing for $3-5M, and if (big if) he is willing to go to Monterrey, I think something like Torres plus $3M is the price of eggs here. (Valencia is a salary dump, I would not do that.)

One thing I'd love to see is some Mexican players coming up here to play. There is so much quality in that league. Would be great if our CCL run exposed Mexican players to our little project here at TFC and maybe opened some minds to playing here.
