Has anyone thought that they might be looking to sell Oso, and by being under contract if a team does come sniffing TFC gets something for him? If he was out of contract, he becomes a free transfer, no?

    Just a thought.

All 3 of the honchos at this announcement with a 4th chair.

    Unprecedented for a resigning.

Of course this happens around the world so I wouldnt be surprised. Pay Osorio well and reward him, and if a nice offer comes in that both MLSE and Osorio agree to then TFC also win.

I can't judge this until I know the $$$$$$. I was Osorio's biggest critic; I think he will never create at the level of Vazquez; but he's a great passer, possession player, he can finish and is good positionally and sound defensively. At 400-500 k it's a nice signing. At 800-900 k; i'm not sure.

In one of the recent articles it says Will Johnson is the highest paid Canadian in MLS at $467 thousand a season and Osorio will be earning “well North of that”

If he keeps up his current level of performance he’s worth the high end of the range. 10+ goals in a regular season (which seems likely this year) from a midfielder puts him in very elite company and he contributes a good amount defensively. Obviously Vasquez is more offensively capable, but he’s also a one-way player who has to be hidden defensively for the most part. We cannot afford to field another Vasquez in midfield and two-way mids aren’t cheap on the open market.

I like the deal if he continues to work hard.

I wouldn't call Vazquez "one way." IMHO he does have a defensive side, even if his strength is offense.

Nonetheless, it's great that we have one of our own doing so well in Osorio.

Okay, maybe that’s a bit of hyperbole on my part. I think the point more largely is you have to think of Osorio as a box-to-box player who is slightly more offensive while Vasquez is clearly primarily deployed in the midfield for his offensive abilities.

Osorio will win way more challenges over the course of the game but also not make as many game breaking passes. You need both types of players in the team.

Uhh Sebas IG bio says football contract: and then his agents name on Top of his usual marketing persons contact name. That definitely wasn't there a month ago.

Yall think he meant contact instead of contract? And is that any better?

Molinaro tweeted the same thing. Said Jozy sounds like he's gone.

It would be a shame to lose Jozy, does a lot a great stuff in the community and most importantly scored the biggest goals for us. *sniff* indeed.

Jozy Altidore sounded uncertain about his future with #TFCLive post-game tonight. Here’s (some of) what he had to say. pic.twitter.com/FDkU6kYV9Y

Yeah if he's talking like that he's gone and he knows it.

Thanks for all the goals Jozy. And the Cup.

Seba played better with Jozy there. Now what if he is gone? Without another big presence up top they can concentrate on Seba.

We would sign a new DP striker I'm sure. We're not going to be caught without 3 DPs.

If Altidore is leaving I do wonder if now is the time to move on from Bradley as well.

Until Altidore was subbed in last night, it was amazing how tiny TFC looked out on the field compared to Vancouver. It's not just Giovinco; also Janson, and our midfielders are just medium height. Altidore will be hard to replace, and I will miss him.

I'll be disappointed to see us sign an out-and-out striker again. The FO knows they screwed up by signing Giovinco and Jozy because it pigeon-holed them into a two-striker set-up.

Watch back pre-season 2015 and the first few MLS matches. The original set-up was for a 4-2-3-1 with Giovinco in the hole behind Jozy, but Seba didn't come here to play as a 10, he came here to play as a striker.

The key to succeeding with this next DP is going to be finding a guy who brings high-quality tactical versatility. It's going to be a guy in the mold of Janson (if it's not Janson) - a guy who can play up top, in the hole or out wide.

My list of requirements (aside from obvious quality) would be this:

    - Can play up top, in the hole or out wide.
    - Has some size or aerial ability.
    - 26 or under.
    - Not injury prone.
    - Not prone to international call-ups.
    - Sustainable or upward trend in market value.

and ideally, it's a guy who is on TAM salary but is only a DP because of a transfer fee (meaning we can go get another DP the next season like Atlanta).

Edit: Reading this back I'm basically describing Janson

(Other than the aerial ability - haven't seen much of that yet)

It’s starting to look like the next Jermaine Jones, he’s good but the team has to be built around him. Kills the flexibility of the team.
I’ve also wondered why Vanney hasn’t tried him with a partner to shore up the defence, like Fraser? Is that Bradley’s choice?

Hard to play a 4-2-3-1 with Giovinco as the 1.

Jozy leaving would leave a huge hole. Seba is far more effective when both of them play.

    Sad indeed.

Hamilton is the only similar player we have and the coaching staff clearly thinks he is not ready to step up.

On separate topics I still don’t understand why Hasler was traded; without the recovery pace of Mavinga our defense is terrible, and the team really could have used Edwards as an impact sub.

^Suspect they needed Hasler's salary cap space as part of Janson move.

I would not be surprised to see both Hasler and Edwards back next year.
