My understanding is they had cameras in there when the Red Bull incident occurred. They likely refined the cameras after that.

Herrera is just doing his usual schtick.

Accusing police of assault is more than schtick, it is a serious thing. Doing it falsely is a serious criminal offence.

Police have enough trouble at soccer games as it is, and a charge like that has the potential to lead to trouble in the stands in Mexico City, if America supporters believe that their players were attacked by unprovoked gringo police.

Concacaf should suspend Herrera from the return leg if this doesn’t bear scrutiny.

Looks like they've set up camp in the city of Pachuca. Probably a good call, likely avoiding too many encounters with America fans looking to disrupt our prep.

I can understand why they don't do much more than what is there today.

100% of these games involve TFC. Our opponents are there once or twice a season at best.

Better probability of finding something incriminating against ourselves over time than our opponents.

Estadio Hidalgo in Pachuca is listed as 2,391m above sea level, and Azteca Stadium is 2200m, or 7844 and 7218 feet, respectively.

    The stadiums are 105km apart.

Hopefully that's far enough for the air in Pachuca to be cleaner than the infamously poor air quality in Mexico City itself.

The air should be cleaner in Pachuca. I've flown in and out of Mexico once before and the city is in a valley that acts as a bowl for all the pollution to pile up in. It was about a decade ago but I vividly remember noticing the yellow tint to the air once the plane got to altitude.

This will be the single biggest game an MLS club team has ever played, if we get the result. A Mexican team has never lost to an MLS team in the semis (or the Final, obviously)

The Azteca. The only stadium in the world to host two World Cup Finals.

(I kind of can't believe it. It wasn't that long ago that I went to a Lynx game, and gave up forever in despair....)

Kind of like Toronto when driving down HWY 10 from Caledon in the summer, Nicotine yellow in the air

I literally have close friends who thought my obsessive patience for this club was insane. I think the end of the Winter reign was the absolute lowpoint, with the possibility that Short Pants stabbed him in the back, and the whole Earl as the front office thing....

    Damn.

I have to say, at this point if you read the various other boards, Vanney is the most underrated coach in history. The guy has them playing, for the most part, exactly the way he wants, with discipline.

Instead of worrying what Herrara said and all that B.S. lets concentrate on the task at hand and get a result in Mexico City

Nyrb because it's a close road trip and lots of fans would make it. Or chivas just to have another popular Mexican team to take out ?

I'm leaning to nyrb for the road trip.

    Chivas.

Three Mexican teams in a row to leave no doubt who the fuck is the best club in North America!

    Go big or go home.

False accusations like these are tantamount to inciting violence.

So we get fined too because CONCACAF are too wimpy to take a stand.

Yeah I'm not sure why we are getting fined since we did not instigate this nonsense nor did we throw around bogus accusations - other than the fact that this is CONCACAF.

Yeah...in 2012, my son and I were at the game in DC where they lost their ninth in a row to start a season. A number of DC United fans looked on us with pity, wondering how on earth we could support a team that, from top to bottom, was so inept.

But every now and then, you'd get a Terry Dunfield against Vancouver moment, a Gilberto free kick, or a Martino half-volley...a little bit of magic, and you'd keep going.

Eventually, we may go back to being ordinary, because nothing lasts forever, when we'll look back on nights like those against Tigres and Club America, and feel sorry for all those who were not there.

Fuck, I love this game and this team.

Completely relate. Also agree about Vanney at this point. He's become a coach that players will play all out for, his tactics keep bearing results, and he's established (with Michael Bradley's help) a truly "all for one" culture in the club.

Played their first team subbing some out later in the game, hopefully worn out.
