Default Other MLS Games - Sunday 15 October - Penultimate Week

East - All Games at 5pm
Philly @ Chicago - Chicago wants a home playoff game. Next week they play in Houston, who likely will be needing points that game to get into the playoffs. If they lose both, Columbus can catch them. Philly is just sliding out the door.
What we want - Chicago win to put pressure on Atlanta for their game against us
What will happen - Chicago has too much outside attack for a weakened Union defence. 3-1 for the home side

NYCFC @ NER - NER is out but are playing for their jobs. NYCFC needs a win to claim 2nd. That's a higher motivation, especially as they face a tough last game against Columbus in a makeshift field they have never played on.
What we want- An NYC win to relegate Atlanta to 3rd
What will happen - NYC will grab a late goal to get the points they need.

Atlanta @ NYRB - High pressure all over the field. Atlanta needed a rest. NYRB played last week and did a good job against Vancouver. Martino can't seem to get his team going away from home. Allan Kelly is the ref, so expect Martino to be livid after the first half
What we want - lots of yellows, lots of huffing and puffing and an Atlanta loss so they have to come out desperate against us next week
What will happen - a 2-2 draw with controversy all over the place

Columbus @ Orlando - Kaka's last game for Orlando. Possibly a lot of people's last games in Orlando. Seems Kreis is going to be there next season but Larin....not so sure. Meanwhile Columbus has an 8 game unbeaten streak and a chance at a home date in the knockout round, if they get some help.
What we want - Columbus win to put pressure on everybody else next week
What will happen - Kaka will try to do something magical but Columbus is the better team. 3-2 win for Columbus

    Inter Divisional Game

DCU @ Portland 7:30pm - Portland has two home games left and is hoping they can catch SKC for second. DCU, who hosted a playoff game last year, are good at being spoliers but this is a long trip that will sap all their energy.
What we want - Portland win to keep the West tight
What will happen - Portland wins big 4-0

West - All Games at 7:30pm

RSL @ Colorado - RSL is a much improved team but the hole they built in the first few months is just too much to overcome. Colorado really is a bad team.
What we want - RSL win to keep everybody in the East having to work hard one more week
What will happen - RSL wins 2-1

Houston @ SKC 7:30pm - 3 days later, they play again. SCK needs to win to try to get 1st but also it would guarantee them at least a home game in the knockout round. They area better team then Houston, who have only one win away all season. That and most of their main guys played in the midweek qaulifiers so NOBODY is rested.
What we want - SKC win to put pressure on Vancouver
What will happen - SKC wins 2-0

Minnesota @ LAG 7:30pm - oh how things have changed since the first week of the season. LAG were a powerhouse hoping to ride things again while Minnesota was getting pummeled every week. Now - the Loons are the better team
What we want - Loon win just for the fun of it
What will happen - Loon comeback win 2-1

FCD @ Seattle - Dallas is desperately clinging onto that last playoff spot. Seattle is trying to get going again and get a home playoff game in the knockoutround. This week, Seattle is the better team.
What we want - a draw to keep the intrigue going
What will happen - 3-0 Seattle win - Dempsey runs right

San Jose @ Vancouver - San Jose HAS to win. Vancouver though wants a win to ensure they get 1st in the West and dont' have to get a result away in Portland. Somebody is leaving dissapointed.
What we want - a SJE win to keep everybody fighting
What will happen - a draw that nobody will want

And the Atlanta in 5th dream stays alive.

    All this would take is

    Atlanta loss to us

    Columbus beats NYCFC

    Chicago beats or ties Houston

    This scenario would leave it

    TFC
    Chicago
    Columbus
    NYCFC
    Atlanta
    NYRB

Vancouver in Portland next week needing a draw to get 1st in the West. A loss and they could fall to 3rd.

    Right!
The Whitecaps have blown the chance to clinch the West, though in the first half they had about 3-4 clear cut chances to make it 2-0 on some excellent counters...

So SKC can't finish higher than 2nd since Vancouver and Portland play each other and any result there, either way keeps SKC out of first. Seattle is the dark horse with a winnable game v Colorado and could slip to 1st with a win and Vancouver loss.

“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

    -Eduardo Galeano
