    Default CCL @ Roger's Centre?

So our first CCL game is going to be in Feb or March next year ... is it going to be possible to have it at Roger's Centre again?

Can you imagine close to 50,000 in there, with how good this team is now? It would blow last time out of the water.

Is this doable? 'Cause they just can't do it at BMO in February. If not at RC, what are the other options?

highly highly unlikely from my understanding. New grass at Rogers can't be ripped up. I would imagine if MLSE could have put the final last year in the dome they would have.

besides, we've done early March at BMO before. It was fucking awful, but it's doable.

But what about Feb? That would be impossible at BMO without some kind of giant bubble.

I can't believe they would every settle for a neutral site either.

What are the other options? Can't we just lay grass down over their turf?

I imagine they'd have a bubble on until the last possible second. No reason the boys can't play in some cold though. It'll certainly make it harder for the Mexican team we'll inevitably face.

I don't know. -25 and colder is possible in Feb. I think that's beyond the limits of what's acceptable.

Apparently there is a way for the new infield at RC to be covered in order for other events to happen with a level floor (concerts, convenstions, Monster Jam, etc).

It is certainly in the realm of possibility but TFC and the Jays would need to be discussing and planning starting now to get it off the ground correctly.

Just an FYI - my understanding is CONCACAF is going to change the seeding for this tourney and we are likely to start with a home and away against a non US or Mexican team.

Which puts a need for 50k capacity aside. It will be chilly, though.

Why? They'd have months to promote it. As hot as TFC is right now, I think they could get at least 40k against a non-US or -Mexican team.

I seriously don't think BMO Field in Feb. is feasible.

Which one of the above teams draws 40k? It was the MLS team + Beckham that did it that one time.

That's beside my bias for playing at home aside.

2 MLS Cups might as well have been played in February for the temp those days at BMO.

THIS 100%!!! I have no desire to return to RC. I said the same thing before the final last year, with the amount of money that MLSE has poured into BMO there is no way the games will be held anywhere else. BMO is home and BMO is where we will make our run for Champions League glory.

Doesn't the pitch have heated glycol piping to keep it warm even in the winter? They can probably provide heated tent areas around the stadium if necessary, but just think of the advantage TFC playing at -2C would have over any central american teams visiting.

Bubble over the field and they show it on the big TV?

Seriously though, I was there in the very cold weather for the Centennial Classic. It was damn cold when the sun went down, I couldn't imagine running around in shorts and a light shirt - and sweating.

    That's gonna be cold.

If it is home and away, maybe we get leg2?

i would be shocked if BMO was playable in February - i hate the Skydome for soccer but i can't see anywhere else they could hold the game - the pitch was really bad for our first few games this season and they were at the very end of March and into April.

For me, there is zero chance they play a game in February at BMO. I would think RC is the only option.

    I really feel so too.

It's not so much the fans I'm thinking about but the players. You can't risk their health like that. Shorts in possible -20 degree weather is just not feasible.

It's not only the cold, we could also get hit with a heavy snow or freezing rain in Feb.

Skydome is a much more viable option.

If Tottenham can play matches throughout their season at Wembley, then we can certainly play the odd match at Skydome.

That game against LA Galaxy will remain forever one of my greatest live sporting experiences, just because of the grand scale of it.

This team we have now deserves the biggest stage this city can offer.

Okay, but in 2015 it was around -20 for like a week. The point is it's just too unpredictable.

We had a bit of the same discussion on the boards about the final last year. My biggest concern is the players...pros or not, anything where it's cold enough that there is frostbite danger or freezing rain/snow isn't safe and I'd not want to risk them out at BMO for the upcoming matches or risk the start of the new season for the sentimentality of BMO.

Home is where the heart is...where they go - we can follow...if we end up at the Dome...its an away game close to home is all.

guys, we cant play in Feb. the stadium is not frost proof. The waterlines would freeze, the walkways and seats would be covered in snow/ice

Personally, I'd prefer this game be played at the SkyDome. BMO is our house but our players should be focused on their opponent, not frostbite. Let us remember that Seba was subbed off because he couldn't move it was so cold. I'm confident TFC could draw 30k minimum. When they open up any extra 12k seats the team will have any easy time selling cheap tickets to youth associations and companies.

It has to be the RC for weather reasons and capacity, this is Champions League and promote it as such, they will have time to prepare.
