How do we start a social media campaign to get Montreal to give us an Honour Guard?

It'll get cranky in a hurry if our side fails to capture the MLS Cup.

All the moaning, bickering, arguments are going the way of the dodo bird with the way the Reds are rolling right now.

At least we already made the playoffs. I remember when that was highly in doubt somewhere around week 3-4 and we sucked.

We could clinch shield while on the field in NE, while the match is still on. If we beat LA and MTL, we gain 6 points.
If NYCFC lose in COL, and then in HOU on the Saturday, their game would finish around halftime of our NE game. In fact, they dont need to lose both, a loss and tie plus our 2 wins would equal those 10 points to give us our magic number.

Atlanta has 10 games left, 8 at home in their new stadium. Montreal is not making the playoffs... and Atlanta even finish as high as 4th (though a stretch to do it).

    Here's a conservative outlook
    Win in LA.
    Tie home vs MTL
    Lose in NE
    Win home to NYRB
Win home MTL (this would land us at 69 points)
At Atlanta...who knows. I would be surprised about a tie or loss.

    Magic number down to 5.

Win on Wednesday, it's down to 2. As stated in my previous post, If NYCFC lose next weekend, we'll be around half time in NE and have won the shield.

If my math is right and it may not be.. if Toronto Beat Montreal on Wednesday and NYCFC lose or tie on Saturday TFC will Clinch the Shield.

If that happens. TFC will have Won the Supporters Shield before any other team won a playoff spot. What I'm not sure off as I didn't do the figuring.. is if our beating Montreal clinches a playoff spot for NYCFC.

Not to jinx anything but let's assume reality here - when would the Shield be presented? Assuming it's clinched before the 30th (seems likely given that even one win in the next two and any combination of that with NYCFC not getting max points gets it done), would it be after the Sept 30th game? or at the end of the final regular season home game? Or is it not presented on field at all? I'm not sure of the protocol.....what a crazy notion for those of us following this franchise for the first seven years or so.....

I just assumed it was presented to the team during the first home match after clinching. And yeah, normally there is an on field presentation.

So then it could easily be the 30th and not October 15th? I looked up last year but it was clinched on the last weekend so that didn't really help....I don't think it's been clinched this early (well before the last weekend potentially) since about 2012.....

New York's saturday game is two hours before ours. If the result goes our way midweek and in New York, we could walk out in New England with the shield clinched before the game even starts.

Curious question - As STH are we all still going to be charged for a knockout game on Sept 29th as scheduled when we know we aren't going to be playing in a knockout game (it's already "almost" mathematically impossible based on the combination of schedules already never mind by the 29th) --- wouldn't it make more sense to just pre-charge us for the ECSF and ECF instead....rather than charging all the STH for a non-existent game and then having multiple transactions to refund it or apply the charged amounts and then charge us all an additional $10-$15 or so with another invoice for the ECF ticket instead of the knockout one? It's not like anyone isn't going to take their ECF tickets if offered.....I know, I know, this is what we would call a "first world of MLS success" issue (ha ha ha).....

I bet they tell us they will use the credit for the knockout round for the finals and give people an option to opt out and get the refund. That would be my guess.

Maybe sooner. If we win on Wednesday, it eliminates all teams but NYCFC from the race. We play NER on Saturday and NYCFC plays Houston - which will not be a walk in the park They're just below the playoffline so they will want points. Any result other than a win for NYCFC will eliminate them.

On Saturday, they have the 3PM game. We have the 5PM game.
    Road Games:
    2013 - Montréal , 2014 - Orlando (Disney Classic), Montréal
2015 - Columbus, New England, Montréal
2016 - NYCFC (Leg 2 Conference Semis), Montréal (Leg 1 Conference Final)
2017 - Ottawa (Leg 1 Canadian Championship Semi), DCU, Red Bulls (Leg 1 Conference Final), Columbus (Leg 2 Conference Final)
2019 - Montréal, NYCFC (Eastern Conference Semi @ Citi Field), Seattle (MLS Cup Final)

this is the part that sucks. I want NYCFC to win this week so that we can claim shield on home turf rather then win it away.

Working that out with the team. It may reside at KIA for a bit, but ultimately its up to RPB and Kings (both ISC members) to determine. I will be getting consultation from Dallas SG's as well as the ISC for best recommendations.

If its mathematically not needed at that point it won't be charged. If its possible the game would need to be played then found not to be, a refund will be issued to the account. This is from a meeting last week with the team.

There will be an on field presentation on October 15 v Montreal.

Provided we clinch it *knocks on wood*

I like it. Rub it in front of IMFC and their supporters.
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

    -Eduardo Galeano
