This is hands down the most inspired they played all year. Pure domination so far.
Still any arguments on whether Vasquez should be starting??

Best 45 min of season so far, don't even have to think about it.
Great first half, some beautiful football from the Reds tonight.
The captain's been a little loose, and i'm still not 100% sold on Vazquez although I warm to him a little more with each passing game. Edwards has looked lively teaming up well with Morrow down the left flank. Delgado is giving us balance in right midfield and nice to see Jozy and Seba starting really click tonight. Some of their moves are orgasmic
Here's hoping we add to our tally in the second half and rack up a good score tonight
Edwards working that left side like a boss.
My goodness, seeing some tekkers from multiple TFC players tonight. But really really really want that 3rd goal before I start celebrating.
It's too early to take Vazquez out!
First half was brilliant, when we play like that I don't see any team stopping our attack. Really nice combinations going forward.
Second half, eh, I think they took it easy with another game mid-week. Still didn't give Houston that many chances anyways.
Great game, on to the next one.
Dominant performance.
Altidore will deservedly get MOTM but tons of other great individual performances - Delgado, Vazquez, Edwards, the passing from Giovinco, if not the goal scoring, come to mind immediately.
In the approximated words of the announcer guy from NBA Jam:
THEY'RE HEATING UP.
Heroism breaks its heart, and idealism its back, on the intransigence of the credulous and the mediocre, manipulated by the cynical and the corrupt. ~Christopher Hitchens
Satisfactory nights work from the Reds. I'd be lying though if I didnt admit the second half was a disappointment. We seemed content to hold what we had rather than go looking for more goals. Although I understand why Vanney made them, with a game in midweek, the substitutions didnt matters help coming where and when they did. They seemed to interrupt our fluency especially in the middle of the park. For the second week running it gave momentum to our opponents and had Houston been sharper they could have caused us great problems, the last 15 minutes in particular. Another thing that bothers me are these little defensive passing triangles we seem to favour. They only lead to trouble imho. They allow our opponents to push us deeper and deeper into our own half and invariable we end up giving up possession with a wayward pass or being stripped of the ball. We need to realize that offense is often the best form of defence and if needed just clear our lines.
A very welcome three points nevertheless, here's hoping we can made it three out of three on this home stand in midweek against Orlando
I can see he's an intelligent footballer and if everything he tried came off there would be absolutely no question about his talent. The problem is that for every killer pass he completes, another goes wayward. I suppose you could argue if that if he had 100% completion rate he wouldnt be playing in Toronto, which is fair enough. As I said, I'm warming to him. However there's no denying 50% of what he tries is either intercepted or goes astray. Hopefully he can improve that ratio the longer he is with us.
Great game by Altidore...that second goal interplay with Giovinco was burning. Solid play by the back 3 again (with the exception of a couple of plays in the first half). I think Bradley had a poor game for his standards but he also did his usual cut off the lanes thing that people don't appreciate. And Delgado made some bonehead passes on occasion but his positioning was great. Edwards - still not certain of him defensively and I'd like to see him against a team playing with width - but he is a true wide force and can cross the ball better then any winger we had out there before. Osorio was the best of the 3 subs. Ricketts gonna Ricketts and Cooper's touch was off.
They have to make some changes for Seattle but I could see them going with that starting 11 again vs. Orlando.
One loss in eight games.
What the world needs is more geniuses with humility; there are so few of us left.
Vazquez's pass out wide to Raheem on the first goal was brilliant. I have to admit.
Oops it was Delgado apparently. Thought it was Vazquez. That was a superb ball.

Hagglund is doing a great job leading the defense. Today kicked off a run where TFC will play 10 games in 35 days. Depth will be seriously tested. Midfield and forward not a concern. Defense now that Hagglund can lead and Morrow can fill in is not as much of a concern but still the weak link depth-wise.
Does anyone know what the attendance was? They didn't announce it at the gamr
I seem to recall two games ago engaging with someone in this board who was comparing, if not favouring Osorio's ability to or over Vazquez. I had an opportunity to sit mid field in the first row tonight. A very close view of the play, the communication, organization, the body language and the skills. Vazquez is on par with giovinco as far as ability, skills, and vision go. Any talk of him not starting, or whether or not someone is sold or not on him from this board is just nonesense.
10 of 11 TFC players were involved in a 20-pass sequence leading up to the first goal...

might have been me, because at the time Vasquez had no defensive work rate, so we had three players not defending, which is not sustainable. He is showing more of this now.
But Really my point was Oso should start over Cooper. And now over Delgado, whose giveaways well overshadowed his good moments.
According to the guy in the After90 video, Vazquez successfully hit 83% of his passes tonight (so did Delgado). So, there's that. And he's a boss out there. And he takes lovely corner kicks. And he loves playing for us. And you said he's an intelligent footballer. So, if you don't love him yet, you soon will. He's played in all 8, with 6 starts, 1 goal, and 5 assists! Gotta like him.
About the match tonight. How about a 20-pass sequence that opened Houston up for a lovely 1st goal. Jozy and Seba, wow - that 2nd goal was a like a piece of art I want to hang on my wall and ponder over regularly. I really like the Vazquez-Delgado pairing. And Raheem. The kid was brilliant. Not so much in the last 15, but there was some beautiful football on display.
And, another CLEANSHEET! That 's 4 in 8 matches.
Sorry Mighty, generally I agree with your points but this is one I cannot. Oso lacks the defensive mindfulness and attacking vision that a box to box midfielder requires. Far too many times other teams catch him with his pants down because he's taken one too many touches and ends up turning into a turn over, perfect example was last night, Seba was open to the right of the keeper, Oso had it at the told of the box and held it, he had a clear passing lane but failed to make the pass.
But what would I know, I'm not much of an expert... and the boy has to do something with shorten his socks, does he know he looks like a bit special out there with his tucked in socks?
tha is to Diego for this breakdown of the last 3 games each of the players started in... http://www.wakingthered.com/toronto-...ineup-midfield
Fair enough. I saw that pass too and he didn't. I can accept that he has been holding on to the ball too much. But I don't agree with the defensive criticism: his positioning is usually very good and stronger than Cooper and Delgado. However, it's going to be moot I think because Delgado will likely have a run of games now. It does raise an issue though. Who is expendible? Chapman needs some time on the pitch and looked very goo in his brief appearance: lots of once touch. Cheyrou, Endoh.... something has to give, or even two players.
