No the banker was Alseth. Wonder if a USL TFC2 deal is in the cards for Brunell?

Was he signed before or after Hernandez? Wonder if either the Hernandez or Pais signings forced them to rethink the signing and decide to cut ties early (for his sake) to keep a spot open for the mid season transfer window.

Boriello still scores tons of goals, he has over 10 this season i think.

No clue how he would fit for TFC but would be a good striker for a few years in mls

Someone refersh my memory, was he a true first team signing or more geared towards the USL team? Something definitely seems odd.

    Homesick maybe?

He was on a semi-guaranteed deal according to Larson. Kind of in between the first and reserve team.

But he was signed before we got Hernandez. With Aubrey probably a fixture in the USL lineup for this season, Mavinga was our only backup CB that would regularly be with the first team. So Brunell was extra insurance there. After getting Hernandez, I think Brunell just wasn't worth the roster spot - two regular backup CBs is enough, and if we're really in a bind we can call Aubrey up.

Seems like this will end up being similar to the China rumours in the offseason where similarly represented players by one agent are linked to a particular league.

Wonderful scoring threat, for a year or two. This may have something to do with MLSE facing real possibility of an early Giovinco departure. Same agent. Consolation signing.

I don't see Giovinco leaving. He's 30 now and still a very good player, but where is he going to go to get the money he's getting here? China? They're clamping down on high-dollar signings of foreign stars. He's not good enough for a big-time club in Europe and he's still mostly anonymous in Toronto when he needs to be, which is a huge lifestyle benefit for him. He still seems to enjoy Toronto greatly as a city. If he can get past this little slump/injury/lull he's going through lately, he'll be back to being a top 3 player in this league. Why would he leave?

I don't know why you would give any credence to the Borriello rumor, this is like the 5th/6th time he's been linked. It'll be the same as it ever was, D'Amico drumming up interest for him to eventually sign for newly promoted Serie A team...

Well we are about to find out if our defence can organize itself without Moor and Irwin.

Absolutely brutal loss for Moor to be sidelined right now. Can't even speculate on what he is going through right now. I hope it is a positive prognosis, but TFC might have to find a top performing CB in the summer window.

Barring a Cheyrou and or Moor retirement, we'll likely have settle for what we can find inside the league. Not sure we have any cap space at all. Might have to deal a Cooper or a Ricketts to get some cap space.

    Yeah, this is really tough.

Is this the same thing that happened to Dempsey? Because if so, he's back, so hopefully Moor would be able to come back too.

Does this mean Mavinga will be back in? And Zava will be the one calling the line?

Awful news about Moor. Hopefully it turns out to not be too serious.

Maybe they should go to a 4-man backline: Morrow, Hagglund, Zavaleta, Beitashour. I think it would be good to have the veterans Morrow & Beitashour back there.

Otherwise I guess it's Hernandez or Mavinga, together with Hagglund & Zavaleta.

Davidson wrote a CP article indicating brain trust is thinking Morrow at LCB with Edwards at LWB. Hernandez & Mavinga have injuries.

Dempsey, Eddie Johnson, Marvell Wynne. Dempsey was able to come back, Johnson no. MW? Still too early to know.

I don't really like the sound of that. I think if there are that many injuries you just go a back 4:

    Morrow----Zava---Hags----Beitashour

Morrow as a CB just seems too risky.

I wonder about Bradley at CB. We have way more depth in MF (Delgdo or Chapman)

I agree dropping to a back four or moving Bradley to the backline is sensical.

However, has Morrow done anything this season to suggest he'd be any worse as a CB than Hagglund? Not as far as I've seen.

I would say that Morrow is too important offensively to put him at CB. Plus I don't think it's a given that he'd be better than Mavinga there

    Per Grant Wahl

MLS owners meetings take place on Monday in Colorado, and one topic under discussion will be even more investment in players through Targeted Allocation Money. More than $42 million in TAM has been used in MLS in 2016 and ‘17 to improve the quality of players at the level just under the three Designated Players allowed per team.
Just this past December, MLS announced an $8.8 million increase in TAM over what had been previously earmarked for 2017. That added up to an increase of $400,000 per team to $1.2 million TAM apiece for the 2017 season.
A final decision on increased TAM can be expected at the end of the year. All TAM spending is beyond the amount agreed to by the owners in the 2015 collective bargaining agreement.
