Default How Many Points for TFC in 2017?

It's that time again. Here are the last polls for reference:

    http://forums.redpatchboys.ca/showth...or-TFC-in-2016
    http://forums.redpatchboys.ca/showth...or-TFC-in-2015
    http://forums.redpatchboys.ca/showth...or-TFC-in-2014
    http://forums.redpatchboys.ca/showth...or-TFC-in-2013

I was feeling pretty good about this year until that Chicago pre-season game. I still feel that TFC is one of the strongest teams in the East, but I also feel that their backline is still prone to laspes that leads to goals. I'm worried that at the halfway point teams will have figured out how to deal with TFC's 3-5-2 and Vanney will scramble around trying to find an alternate formation that will optimise the pieces they have to use. I'm also not sold on Vazquez as the key to our AM woes.

I think they can win 2 of the first three on the road and put together a solid run through the spring. But then I think they'll slump a bit in July and August with a slate of western teams they'll be playing and international call-ups they'll be missing. I think we can get about 13 points of the western teams and 45 points of the eastern teams for a total of 58 points and conference champions. Watch this will be the year my expectations are too high.

I voted 50-53 points, solid playoff team. I don't think our roster construction is perfectly aligned with regular season dominance.

I think if we can have a solid summer despite losing Bradley, Altidore, Oso, Tosaint and maybe even Chapman, Hamilton or Morrow to the Gold Cup then I think we can win the east.

I suspect injuries are going to be more of a factor than last season. We'll see longer stretches without the big names. Despite that, there will be enough points in the bank to contest for conf leadership, but not control the table.

I actually think we'll win the shield, and will have less injuries than last season.

I think the key is squad rotation, and I think we have the depth to win games relying on non-dp players.

Also no one in the east scares me, at least with regards to regular season and I think the strong Western teams will all take points from each other (FCD, Seattle, Portland, LAG).

Dohhhh ...will ever MLS become a normal league, which takes in account the international schedule (= no league games when there are intl. games), or it will remain forever a freak of a league.

It will never be normal with the way the league is formatted, number of teams and schedule etc.

There going to need to split the league in two and cut the number of games down.

I feel really good about this team, but with all the eventual absentees, I'd settle for 54-57 points.

Don't give a monkeys about Supporters Shield. Qualification with this team is what I expect and then is time to reevaluate. Pussplops is meeting expectations for me.

This team I think will flirt with 60 points perhaps take in even more. If we can stay healthy we will be a force. I know everyone in that locker room wants another shot at MLS cup at home, hopefully they can focus on taking care of the backline and letting our goal scorers take care of the rest.

TFC is clearly an elite team with a lot of depth, one of the best in the league. That being said it's really difficult to win the supporters shield. I expect TFC to be just a notch below that. Of course something like a major injury could make TFC fall further down, chance plays a role.

I'd give more monkeys if they had an honour guard for the Shield winners. But that would prolly distract peeps from the "Road to the Pussplops".

    Ah well.

    I say 56

international duty will screw us again.
If the conclusion to our preseason is any indication - then like last year, we will be complacent towards the end of the season due to a secured playoff spot - which will see us again drop points.

Listening to the MLS podcast, ExtraTime Radio.

They said TFC's points over/under is 55.5 points and all three guys agreed that Toronto will be over. The MLS Analyst said he believes they'll even jump over 60 points.

Also, the 55.5 points was the highest over/under for the Eastern Conf teams.

    Interesting!

i'm going with 57 - Solid elite team - i'd go higher but with the Gold cup we could even drop to the solid playoff team category - our depth is so much improved that it bodes confidence - excited for the season to begin.

I hate to say it but the Impact are excellent value at 30-1.

True... they are placed IMO about 5 places too low.

That line on the Red Bulls is a joke. in what universe did they seemingly get better from last season, so much so that they're the favorites for the cup?

Margins were tight in the East last season and this year will be more so, because Chicago won't suck as much and Atlanta will grab some unexpected points (I think they will buck the new team terrible form tradition). The race for the EC top 2 will go all season long.

NYRB didn't get better. People just bet on them due to name recognition so the odds drop.
