2 weeks? Holy shit.
An offseason like this one: short (due to extended playoffs) and drama-free, is rather boring, isn't it? Strange days indeed!
Mavinga has a kid, goes back to France for a bit, probably not starting this game.

I'm thinking this is going to be a tough game for ours. Hopefully our guys can deal with the altitude and temperature as compared to Florida.
-------Gio--------Jozy--------
------Oso---------Cooper-----
JM--------Bradley-------Biet---
----Zava----moor----Hags----
-------------Irwin------------
Yes? Same as before? Im not sure how we are use Vazquez? Is he here to replace Oso?
Sandy Utah is getting a snowstorm today but Saturday game time it's supposed to be about 7 degrees (C).
we've won our last three season openers at Seattle, Vancouver and New Jersey. Literally anything can happen in this game. predictions are futile and this game will have very little to say about where we'll be even three months from now.
Let's all remember this as we gear up for the new season.
I can't believe we're already back. So excited for this season!
It is always hard to pick up points at Rio Tinto. I will be happy with a point and a solid 90 minutes from the squad. I can't see us shifting from a 3-5-2. If Vasquez makes an appearance it will probably be for Oso, unless Cooper picks up a card. Saturday cannot come soon enough.
My starting 11 prediction (3-4-1-2/5-3-2):
------------------------------Jozy-----------------
-----------Seba------------------------------------
-----------------------Vazquez---------------------
Jmo---------Bradley-----------Cooper-------Beita
-----Mavinga/Haggs----Moor----Zavaleta-------
---------------------Irwin---------------------------
Luis Silva and Joao Plata... surprised RSL didn't bring in Soolsma as well!

RSL fans on BigSoccer are all predicting a TFC win with a couple saying if they are lucky RSL will scrape out a draw. I don't find TFC necessarily do that well when they look to be heavy favourites with the opposition's fans. Hopefully they are predicting correctly though. Would be great to get a good start to the season.
I think it will be the same starting line up as the cup final. Mavinga, Vasquez and Cheyrou as the subs. Maybe Chapman?
I'm wondering if Mavinga will even travel with the team this time. That's a long trip to likely not play after being away for a week.
I think Vazquez would be good to go, he's the type of player that will make use of his great positional awareness and skills, which would reduce the need for physical movement. I do agree that Osorio , or maybe even Cheyrou, may see an appearance in the 2nd half for Vazquez if things is going well....it all depends on how the game is going really (hopefully well).
I can't see Vazquez in until the second half. He's still gaining fitness and will be slow, but he will be an asset once RSL is tired.
MLS is a tough, physical league, that emphasizes speed, and features plastic fields, grueling travel, extreme weather, and incompetent refs. - NK Toronto
Technically he's been in training for a while, being that he's coming over from Cruz Azul who are in the middle their season. Hasn't gotten an in-game minute since the beginning of last august though. Tough to say how he'll manage. He'll get minutes in this game but I highly doubt he goes the whole way. The first 8-10 games are basically high-intensity preseason games anyway. Same reason I don't think we'll see Mavinga until the home opener.
I trust the coaching staff. They're usually pretty good at gauging this kind of stuff.
I think they will ease him in. This is a new league for him, even excellent players sometimes have a period of adjustment in a new league. I'd say he'll get last 20 mins or so. Really looking forward to seeing him this season esp against teams who double up on Gio. That will create more space for players like Vazquez to exploit. Really shrewd piece of business.
Journos up in Downsview it seems

A view on RSL from one of their beat journos
Based on this I'd say we are going to see a slightly less quick version of the Montreal trap and counter.

Really, this is THE story of the offseason...
"Soon after, Burrito Martinez was out, too, having asked the RSL front office to release him from his Designated Player deal because of family reasons. He later told the Argentine media he needed to get back to Argentina to take care of his dog, which had cancer."

Horst is a bruiser, an old school MLS brontosaurus. I except, at a minimum, that one or both of he and Altidore will take a card on the other.
