TFC road games and all other home/away games (whitecaps, impact) will be called from TSN's head office. Cost saving move by TSN this year to make MLS more economically (less loses)

I don't understand why more people are considering this a good result than just a average one.
    Not good, not bad.

Yes, historically it's a good result, would have been good result in seasons 1-7.
But how long we'll continue to judge everything reported to TFC's first 7 seasons or so, when oh boy, it was close to be for real the worst team in the world, and was the laughing stock of the MLS?

    I can't argue with you.

    You are right.

But we etched out a draw on the road with a team that we NEVER beat by TFC (except once) at their home.

We looked lively, and looked like we could have won the game! We were sold short by Giovinco's penalty kick and some of Altidore's chances.

For the rusty first game of the season, I think we did well!

Not looking forward to a season of Caldwell calling everything "pedantic", or instant replays during live action. Although, unlike Sportsnet, TSN doesn't introduce each replay with a stupid cutscreen and loud hissing thing.

It was. He let both RSL CBs act like a couple of thugs, had an odd idea of persistent infringement, the linesmen missed a couple of easy decisions too. But we got out unscathed, generally.

At least we got the penalty. Another day, someone easily duffs that call.

If that does not change in the next 2 games, that's grounds for serious concern in my book.

Vazquez has played exactly as expected. Don't count him ever supporting full-hearted the defense.
The reason is not really his fitness IMO, but more it's not in his DNA to do it.

Other than these I have nothing to take from this game.
Not a good one and not a bad one.
Not to judge too early but I feel you're bang on about Vasquez. And with some of his injury problems historically he's a starter at home / not on the road type.

I think Chapman should be thrown in the mix here with Osorio and Cooper. Call it early season jitters but they both had their issues today.

First game of the season, draw on the road - I suspect people just aren't particularly concerned one way or another right now. If they look rusty after a few games, I'll start to wonder.

Will say I'm happy with the point. Definitely could have gotten the win.

Seba seemed to have no motivation so hopefully it's just a game 1 thing.
Altidore, a beast so not sure how he gets so man handled.
Not sure why the negativity on Cooper, I thought he fought and held the ball well....a couple times too long, but generally a good game.
Oso will have a hard time getting in the first team with Vazquez getting game ready.
Hagglund, no, just no. Weak link in the back.
Would have liked to see Ricketts over Delgado.

Lots to take away as they prep for next week.

    Just my thoughts.

Concerned about Seba. He is a different player from this time last year.

It's WAY too early to worry about not scoring. I'd be concerned if we weren't getting the ball into key areas but we are. We are playing in the opposition half for large chunks and are creating chances. The goals will come again. It's only been one game, no need to worry yet at all.

You know, I know we lost to Seattle last year but that doesn't mean we need to compete with their supporters tonight for the title of Chicken Little of MLS.

Lets leave that to the energy drinks if they lose tomorrow in Atlanta.

    In his opinion.

Seriously though, I think Caldwell is composed and offers good insight. With a little more experience I think he could make a great colour commentator.

As for the Seba talk, I think we've been spoiled by a player who we've seen hit the form of his life. No one can sustain that level forever, but if his interest lied elsewhere, he'd be elsewhere. It is possible that a human being could just be tired at the end of one season and not be fit from the word go to start the next.

A bit frustrating. Probably should have been 2-1 TFC. Although could have been 1-1.

The season is criminally too long, and it shows. We are asking too much of these very special people.

For the first game of the season, on the road at altitude, I thought the second sub was too late, & the third sub never happened.

This was tongue-in-cheek, right? It has to be. We've played 90 minutes of regular season soccer.

It was awfully windy. And Giovinco must have taken that as his cue to flop for the penalty. He was scarcely touched and earned the penalty on the basis of his image.

    Justice served with Rimando's save.

Even games where he didn't score, Seba always made a few brilliant jaw-dropping runs, or passes, etc., easily getting by MLS defenders. I haven't seen him doing this since the summer 2016, and yesterday was no exception.

Too many turnovers giveaways , too many players dribbling into players not either shooting when the opportunity was there or passing before running into traffic and losing possession. Moreover, sometimes even passing when the better option was dribbling and taking the space that was available, overall the decision making was poor by TFC in this game.

if anyone's wondering why most of us seem ok with a draw, let me put something in perspective:

do you know when you look at an EPL / La Liga schedule and do the math for upcoming games? you get teams like watford, southampton, etc, and you'd expect 3 points at home, right? well that used to be us. we were one of the teams that opposing fans would delight in playing. TFC on the road guaranteed 3 points for the home side.

    we're not that club anymore.

yesterday we saw RSL shut up shop and play for a draw close to the end of the match.

if you told me, even 3 years ago, that we'd make a western conference team shut up shop on the road and that they'd consider themselves lucky to get a point from us.. I'd have thought you were crazy.

those away points add up folks.
