    With that rumor squashed, I think Palermo's Alessandro Diamanti would make a lot of sense for TFC to at least take a look at as a TAM signing. Despite his age (34 in May) he - to use a Bez phrase - checks off a lot of boxes:

    - Palermo would likely be open to dropping his salary since the club is doomed to relegation and I doubt he'd want to spend the last year of his contract in Serie B;
    - Making €650k/yr (roughly 700k USD), so he's in TAM range;
    - Attacking midfielder, who can play in middle or on the right is just what TFC could use in attack;
    - Left-footed dead-ball specialist, would complement Seba nicely;
    - Speaking of Seba, Italian connection definitely wouldn't hurt;
    - He has experience playing overseas and also spent two seasons in EPL, so there shouldn't be a language barrier;
    - Despite his age, he's an exciting player to watch. Likes to dribble and play incisive balls, and has been known to score the occasional golazo.

    This team doesn't need another cornerstone player, it needs a complementary piece to help win now, and I think Diamanti would fill that need.

    Always liked Diamanti. Fits the mold of what we should be looking for in the AM. would definitely be happy if hes the one we end up getting.

    I wouldn't. I know Palermo has been terrible this year, but Diamati has looked like he's past it for 2-3 years now. I watch a lot of serie a. Would be a waste of money. The Bosnianan guy we were after had the right CV we should be after

    I'd recommend this guy ... "Wee Stevie Mallan" ... Played in the Scottish Premier Division as an 18 year old then St Mirren got relegated. The team has gotten worse because there's no money in the Scottish Championship so they had to sell off their better players. Stevie signed a 3 year contract that has a year and a half left on it. Sounds like he's on the move to England this month unless someone else nips in and gets him. He's 20 years old, won't cost a fortune but is quality with a high upside and is an out and out creative attacking midfielder ...

    PS. Check out the first goal ... something Messi would be proud of ...

    Those goals from range were impressive, and are what I think we were lacking last year. When teams bunker, a guy that can shoot like that would force them to open up a bit. Would add a different way to attack for our offence. I like the guy, but don't know anything about him such as what type of salary he would need to come.

    exactly, this is why gio needs to drop back when that happens, add a 2nd threat and teams wont bunker so much.

    I thought cooper was gonna be that guy to shoot from the outside, but it doesnt seem like it.

    The most talked about place he's likely to go is to the English Championship. He'd require a transfer fee most likely around the 200k pound mark. He's been regarded as one of the best young prospects in Scotland with more than one Premier League team interested in him. If you ask me he'd probably command a salary of a couple of hundred thousand a year but look at the highlights. The kid scored that Messi type solo run in the Scottish Premier Division as an 18 year old ... worth a punt if you ask me. Could do worse than signing a 20 year old with skills like that ...

    Don't think we need a heck of a lot of pace from the AM position. He's definitely lost a step but he was very good at Bologna before he moved to China, which he didn't appear to enjoy. And its difficult to judge anyone playing for that gong show, Palermo.

    If you have that Emanuele Garau dude on FB, he just posted a pic of TFC back at training, and you can see Cheyrou is there. Has there not been any official word of him coming back?

    Jordan McCray is a RB

    EDIT: The press in Finland were out in front on this one. Article from 5 hrs ago. Dodgy translation via google.

    Center-back Johan Brunell, 25, has played almost his entire career for FF Jaro Pietarsaari but now chasing Son of a new dream. Brunell currently participating in the MLS team Toronto FC's pre-season camp.
    Toronto FC will be staying in Los Angeles during his pre-season camp, but Brunell went initially to Toronto to including a medical examination.
    In Los Angeles, is the team to from 28 January to 6 February and returning home to Canada to again put on the road on February 13 with the direction of Florida. During February are also five friendlies plotted in the program.
    Showed up in Mexico

    Brunell's heading to Toronto's pre-season camp went through a training and demonstration opportunity in Mexico, which he attended along with including Jaroslav acquaintance were Alvaro Morin and Manuel Riveira.
    My hill beats the camp in Mexico convinced the club leaders in Canada to the point that 25-year-old was offered the chance to audition with a view to a transition.
    Output State of the invitation was to Brunell is with the Toronto throughout the preseason.
    Following Schuller's example?

    Brunell's contract with the Mothers Association FF Jaro has expired, and he is free to move without transfer fees. Three years ago, Brunell was also close to a move to the lower leagues in Germany. He also has over a short period playing for TPS junior organization.
    If it gets the contract for Brunell with Toronto FC will begin the regular season MLS team on March 4 with the match against Real Salt Lake in Utah.

    I am shocked Gio hasn't been able to bring some Serie A talent to TFC...so many great players in Serie B that would kill it in MLS, but not sure if they asked GIO for help

    Well based on the Mariner scouting report, McCrary is likely the RB with the very limited MLS experience. Drafted by New England in 2016 but only played one game for Rochester on loan.

    Edit: Has been involved with the US youth teams and was drafted 10th overall LY so might be a nice sleeper depth for both TFC and TFC II

    McCrary seems right up our alley. High pedigree player who needs a bit of a guiding hand. We've been doing that a lot lately.

    My worry is that NE dumped him, a high draft pick, after one season. It's definitely a flyer and I hope he proves himself.

    Well apart from China taking away an import slot this last week and being told by the government to stop spending cash, can we really see Giovinco taking his two young kids to China?

    Yes. Seba isn't just a name, he's a proven success away from Europe and possibly a cheaper option coming from MLS. And let's not forget, Seba came for money, it's not unimaginable that he leaves for money (double the salary, perhaps?).

    Oh, sure its not unimaginable. Just saying he really really likes Toronto and has young kids. He's also spoken of how his wife wasn't sure of coming to Toronto at first - can you imagine having that conversation about some place in China? I get its not hell over there but its very very different for Westerners.

    That and the money tap is drying up over there.
