On the plane at Vancouver going ro the game. Fair load of Seattle fans on the plane. Getting real now!
So Joe's is only open to "card carrying" RPB members pre and post match tomorrow? Is that correct?
OK beyond tickets, marches, flights, puke green, Tim Hortons, post-game plans & all that, I was thinking about the game, and watching many high- & lowlights. One thing that will be key: how will TFC start out of the gate? In many important matches this season, they have started pretty flat, slow, unfocused. I was never sure why. Perhaps frozen a bit when the spotlight shines? The playoff game at Yankee Stadium was a notable exception, but Seattle plays very different from NYC, especially in defense & defensive midfield.
Toronto did great battling back multiple times vs. Montreal in the conference finals, but we only have one game to do it tomorrow. Also most Cup finals, and Seattle as of late, tend to be more cagey & stingy. So I hope the pre-game pep talk is more effective than it has been at times.
Folks above mentioned Beitashour & Zavaleta as concerns on defense. After re-watching lots of game portions, I'm actually concerned about Hagglund. I think Seattle will target him in a 3-man backline, if Toronto leaves things open. Multiple times in recent games, goals and decent chances were generated down that side, including Oduro & others. Hagglund is a great traditional CB, great in the air & in many other situations. However I think when fast players are running at him in the open field, he's not very nimble to react or turn. Also in those situations he was sometimes caught between drifting towards the middle to back up Moor (Hagglund's traditional CB role); to stay outside & protect the wing (when there's no FB); or to step up & intercept a pass or disposses a player (how he got burned on the first Montreal goal at the Big O).
This isn't actually a criticism of Hagglund, just that the team needs to realize his abilities. The back three need to keep their line: if a fast player can spring the offside trap behind Hagglund because the backline isn't straight, we have little chance. Also, if there's a fast player threatening on Hagglund's side, either Morrow, or Bradley/ Johnson etc. have to help out, and make sure Hagglund doesn't have to play multiple roles at once. Actually, on a couple of the goals & scoring chances on Hagglund's side in recent games, either Morrow or one of the midfielders was close buy, but didn't realize how things were developing, or didn't help out.
Not the only areas of concern, but two points that I haven't seen mentioned recently. Fingers crossed!

Under 24 hours until kickoff. I don't know how I am going to get any sleep tonight. As a percaution I have already called in sick for work on Sunday night. Tomorrow is going to be EPIC.
I think I'm getting gonna throw up.
So nervous
Was going to go to Joe's to watch the game tomorrow night since I wasn't able to get tickets to the game. If non RPB members aren't allowed during the game any other recommendations to watch else where with fellow supporters?
I've just been at the antler room on front st. W. - sounder central. I've seen enough of those rave green pukes to last a lifetime! I do respect them tho - any fan willing to travel as far as they have for this deserves some credit in my books. I'm sure we would have done the same had we been playing in Denver.
I know this is bantz, but I'm just going to say this:
I grew up around the corner from the 5th ever Tim Hortons. It used to be good. Now I can't stand their coffee and think its bilge swill. Much prefer Starbucks (although there are WAY better coffee makers in this town then that chain)
Jesus that's not even coffee. Every morning I grind roasted beans and french press coffee for co-workers.
Tims is swamp water
Notes gleaned from twitter tonight include:
a) Fox will be operating the overhead camera TSN has had here but not bothered to try for MLS
b) Kickoff is 8:15
Calm before the storm..
I'm so pumped for the MLS cup
love to hear us sing for Danny louder than ever tonight
either way it will be an epic night
can't wait
and can't sleep.....
Remember The Man, The Legend, The Goal 5-12-07 and All That #9 Left On The Pitch, Thanks For The Memories !!!
It's here
This is fucked.
