Not just thump... two clean sheets against a team that only scores.

when you beat a team that badly, the instinct is to think the loser shat the bed, but really it was perfect tactics and execution

Osorio in 3rd for goals! He scored when it counts

can i just say how impressed i have been with osorio lately? I was really questioning his place in the team at around the mid season mark. especially his lack of results, but man he has been just incredible lately. He has totally converted me into a big time believer.

    I think both.

I would say, 3 of 5 goals yesterday were unstoppable by most keepers (PK, Altidore, and Osorio). Seba's 1st & 3rd goals were decent but not amazing. However the keeper reacted so late that your're right, he just didn't seem to have a chance.

I guess perhaps TFC planned for him. The guy is 6' 7". He can stop lots of high shots that others can't, despite his poor reaction times. But he looked to be total crap on low shots, really slow at getting down. Also Seba's 3rd goal looked the sketchiest, but he let it skip just before passing the keeper, making it harder especially for a keeper that's bad on the ground to begin with. Finally, TFC had lots of players forward on that goal again, so everyone including the keeper had no idea if he would shoot or pass.

The whole game reminded me of the WC semi-final between Brazil and Germany. The attitude, bearing and performance of NYCFC was similar to that of the Brazilians as they deflated so rapidly. The dismay of the crowd was exactly that that of the stunned Brazilian supporters as they seemed to seek comprehension of what was happening to their star-studded team. The confidence and relentless pursuit of overwhelming victory made TFC look like the rampant and almost perfect Germany team that day. Not to say we are as good as Germany were that day, of course, but surely a seminal and famous moment in TFC history, almost shocking in it's brutality.

Does anyone know of a place beyond MLS Live where I could rewatch the game in full? Would love to re-watch it (Or watch it for the first time effectively, like most people there I probably saw around 10% of what actually happened on the field!)

There is a US Soccer Torrent website where you can download full TFC games. I don't want to post a link without permission it might be against the board rules.

Hahaha, that's hilarious. My son & I were at Old Trafford in August for Man U's home opener against Southampton. My son couldn't stop smiling as the entire stadium was singing "knick knack paddy whack, give the dog a bone, SOUTHAMPTON CAN FUCK OFF HOME" LOL

Yeah, but with the train system in England, if you don't leave by x time, you're getting home really late from a 5 pm end - like 9. You can't expect people to travel for 4 hours after seeing a match, you know.

This is a very good comparison. It was very embarrassing for the home side in both of these games and "stunned" is a great word to describe what they must have felt like. Although to be honest I felt pretty stunned myself but in a very good way!!!

I think the first was really well placed by Séba, right into the corner. I think a lot of keepers would've struggled to keep that out. The fifth he was a bit dodgy on for sure, although he seemed to go down slow, almost as if he didn't see it till late. However I didn't see anyone blocking his view.

After we made it 5-0 nil we started singing "can we score one for you!" That got a nice chuckle amongst our supporters. Special night, I've been a SSH from the off. I've been to see this club play several times with an away contingent. Last night in NYC was absolute magic and as a TFC supporter I will remember it forever.

2 assists for Nick Hagglund so far. The big man sure has been impressive lately. I hope we're going to protect him in the expansion draft.

It was hilarious to see the NYC fans in the neighboring section look at us, completely puzzled, when we got that going.

Still buzzing from this match. Best overall TFC performance i've ever seen. Vanney got the tactics spot on. The City luxury players were starved for the ball while our attack ran riot on that weak back four. Every man played to their potential - it was a joy too see.

Was in Boston watching the game on FS1. After NYCFC was down by a couple goals, one of the commentators, I assume Lalas, started blathering on about how you had to respect NYCFC because they only play one way, no matter the situation, attack all the time. Very few teams in world football play one way all of the time, and you have to respect them for it even if they fall on their face.

Did he not watch last week's game, where they didn't attack at all? What a bunch of stupid nonsense.

I find it funny how some MLS journalists keep talking about how NYC beat themselves as if it was the main reason they lost. It was the way they played that got them beat. Building from the back, trying to defend too much, Viera changing formations or demoralizing the team, etc, etc. There is some acknowledgement of TFC's tactics and ability to mash them to a pulp but not a lot I find. It is mostly NYCFC dropped the ball instead. Kind of annoying a bit but hey, who cares what they think....we are in the Eastern finals and a chance to actually have an MLS Cup game at BMO Field with TFC in it. Dreams can come true people....

No doubt this is a nightmare for MLS almost as much as that MLB year it looked like the Jays could meet the Spos. Both NY and LA gone and the only fans the MLS loves and can sell to Murica is the rave greeners.

    I kind of love it.

I think both played a factor but even if they were maximizing the team we'd have won regardless. 7-0 over two legs can't be dismissed entirely on account of misplaced tactics.

Lampard and Pirlo are too slow to be played in the centre of midfield as a pairing. Their career MLS guys < our career MLS guys. We have a better keeper and far better defenders. It's a good thing Villa kicked Cooper because otherwise you might have forgotten he was on the field.

Here is the behind the scenes from NY's perspective. Fascinating look at what it is like to be the opposition at BMO Field. Also you get to see Pirlo and Giovinco hug.

Cool. Love how the escort kid asked Bradley "are you going to win?". Bradley looked like he was so much in the zone for the game that he barely acknowledged the question. Haha.

reddit.com/r/soccerstreams usually has stuff up within an hour of the match. Sadly you don't often get HD feeds posted for MLS games, but do sometimes. It's great for European and international football though.
