Yeah that's where my head is at as well. If we go long again, it won't happen until May like this year.

    Just thinking...

TFC's last home game is Oct 28th and the Argos last home game is Oct 20th. Assuming the Argos end up no better than 3rd and TFC misses the playoffs, could MLSE rip up the turf immediately on Oct 29th and install the new hybrid field, giving it a couple of months to settle? If they complete installation by beginning of November, they could cover, heat, and use growlights until Christmas to get it to a state where it will be ready for use in March.

Anyone else notice in the last game that Giovinco tried to make a quick turn in the centre of the field and his foot slipped under a big piece of our crappy grass carpet? You could see the huge divot that was left on the field. He lost all his momentum and he would have probably stopped the Tigres player if not for the slip. You could see him look back at it as it happened. Shortly later after that he was subbed off. The field this year has been a disaster.

We're having a pretty great summer too. They need to sort this mess out.

i was changing channels yesterday and on one channel was an nfl game with the cleveland browns as the home team.
down the middle of the field the field was pretty destroyed and it only week 3!!

pointy football destroys the field, there is one team in mls that also shares the field with a pointy football team( houston dymano)

I'm not happy with BMO Field either; I never wanted the Argos there...

However, I saw much worse pitches in some of the Champions League and Europa League games this week.

The replay on the Seba goal just shows how bad that pitch is.

Giovinco says BMO Field playing surface is for amateurs

"The field is an amateur field," he said dismissively.

"We are professionals. We are accustomed to playing on a professional field. This is not a professional field."

these problems - and all the injuries - didn't happen before the Argos started to play at BMO. Just saying.

    Kinda

Field was pretty good the last two seasons until late October. That's when they can't grow stuff so start using sand to replace divots. This year, the sand started again in July. If anything, the brand new pitch they brought in for June was crud from the start. Now, guess who got first crack on that pitch?

They're putting in the hybrid next year so (presumably) none of this will matter anymore.

Seba should know this by now, so I'm not sure why he's still complaining.

Plastic turf not coming before world cup lol

I feel like either BMO field go to plastic AFTER world cup or Agros leave BMO field and grass will stay forever.

I highly doubt Wolfpac can afford to rent out BMO field for their games unless MLSE buys them.

Not this year, and not early next year during the next CCL (where lots of our injury problems started).

8K for the Wolfpack is fine - that is more then most teams in the top flight of English Rugby League. Growth up to 15K isn't the desired outcome as much as charging more $. Its also a league where plastic pitchers are accepted. Lamport fits them & MLSE is happy to have an anchor tenant for another venue they are running on behalf of the city. Even if MLSE bought them one day (and I'm not sure why as MLSE prefers to buy cheap then build up), they'd still prefer the Wolfpack in that venue as that anchor. Plastic pitches are easier to deal with.

    *****

Grass, on the other hand, we were told was doable. Seems not anymore.

Seba's right to keep on them, as should the fans. Next year isn't the issue. It should be better now. Brand new grass laid out in June - it isn't good enough. And the pros working on that grass should be held accountable for their work this year. I give them the issues in February to May. But this...this is a screw up by somebody. And Seba is right to say it isn't up to what it should be.

To be blunt, even Houston's grass field, after their high school football games, isn't this bad. So, do we trust the current lot to get the next fix right? Hey, they laid out a great pitch in 2016 & 2017 - until October. Job well done. But, not a job completed. Have they shown they have the inclination to actually listen to the soccer team on this? Cause the complaints are fair & it ain't coming from the Argos.

New sod next month with stitching to happen during an international window. So expect that to happen around the March 18-26 window.

This was an interesting tidbit in there.... only 11,000 scanned in at kickoff!

In other stadium matters, Manning is looking at reconfiguring entry into BMO Field because of the logjam at Gate 1 in the northeast corner which is used by 75 per cent of fans attending games.
He points to the Sept. 15 game against the Los Angeles Galaxy that attracted a crowd of 30,799. At kickoff, there were only 11,000 people scanned in with others waiting to get in or arriving late.
“We have to physically do something so people can get in quicker,” he said. “So we’ve got to re-imagine the entrances. It may not be a 2019 project, it may be 2020. We’ve invested in this facility, made it a nice place. But if people can’t get in …”

Very interesting, I hope the new pitch doesn't get screwed up before the stitching happens, as TFC is starting early with CCL again...

This is long overdue. It's been a problem since BMO opened. A good portion of the stadium come from the GO Station or Liberty Village when heading to the games.

This is a major story in the UK. Wembley hosts Spurs-City tomorrow night in one of the games of the year. But the pitch was destroyed by today’s NFL game.

I don't know where you got march from, the article says:

" And in April, the field will be strengthened by artificial fibres that will hold the surface together, protect the grass and reduce recovery time between events."

But the field will chewed up though by the end of April with about 3 CCL games and 3 MLS games played at BMO.

What they need to do is rip out the grass tomorrow, since the Argo's are going to get 3rd place at best and don't have any more home games, lay the new turf next week, then stitch the grass with artificial fibres immediately to give them the Winter to solidify.

And here: wembley groundkeepers are quite clear football and soccer don't work on the same pitch, and desso doesn't solve the problem: https://www.theguardian.com/football...rican-football
