Apparently they lock in the folded up standing position for soccer games and will be in the down seats position for Argos games and soccer games that require all seats. I don't think somebody individually will be able to lower their 'spot' into a seat during TFC games if my understanding of this is correct.

That's what I'm thinking. The overbuilt roof is making a lot of sense now.

This is very big news. I don't know why Waking the red didn't lead with that. Very excited to see what the club has in mind.

The overbuilt roof was done for the ability to put temp stands in behind. I don't believe reconstruction of the south end is in mind here.

Well there going to have to expand BMO Field a bit eventually, if Toronto hosts WC games in 2026. Even with added temporary seats, we can only get to 37,000 tops. FIFA requires 40k minimum. I think TFC could handle adding 4K more seats somewhere. Would prefer it to complete the stadium with a proper north end, but that won’t happen because of the Argos.

I can't find a good photo but even if they just do Temp seats set similarly to the NHL Centenial Classic set-up that was 40-41,500 if i remember correctly. (Plus, that set up will be much better than some in Russia this upcoming summer)

BMO Grounds Crew tweeting that they are looking to hire a groundskeeper. Who's interested? We could do with some inside info.

It's more general labour maintenance staff than a groundskeeper they are hiring

so if we think of the pitch as lawn porn, would this position be akin to a fluffer?

More stadium related news from Manning

“We’ve gotten to a point where our demand has surpassed our supply – which is a good spot to be in,” Manning said of TFC, adding the club’s season ticket base will balloon to 24,500 this year.
“I say this humbly,” Manning continued, “TFC is hitting on all cylinders, across the board.”
So much so that TFC intends to keep the extra north-end seats it added for last year’s playoffs.
Additionally, Manning said he’s looking at options to expand BMO by as many as 5,000 seats.

    I found this very funny:

“We’re going to do what soccer teams do (in football stadiums), when they tarp off the upper decks,” Manning said. “We’re going to do the same thing. It’s going to be a lower bowl. Let’s fill the lower bowl first and then worry about filling the upper deck.”

Argos fans are NOT happy about the tarping. Lol.

Hopefully they put some sort of stand in the north end to complete stadium.

With World Cup bid, I wouldn't be surprised if they add more seats in the future.

What would another 5,000 seats at BMO look like. We know they've discussed Safe Standing; how many more seats is this? I feel like that has to be another thousand or two minimum.

The few Double Blue faithful left must be gutted. I would've hoped the smaller venue saw the last of tarping.

Tarping actually makes sense for them. Get people closer and build a better atmoshphere.

Also gives the illusion there are more people there than there are. I'd think that would be in their interest.

Looking at some posts made on one of the Argos fan forums, looks like a few of them aren't too fond of the idea of tarping off some areas, suggesting they like their upper level seats because it gives them a better view of the field i.e. watching plays develop. Some of them even suggested Manning made a bad first impression with the idea of tarping.

Look at the OP, Argos discussion is allowed in the all sports section of the board, this thread is field conditions ONLY.

So that creates a bit of a catch 22 then, doesn't it?

How do you discuss the past, present and current conditions of the field without referencing the other tenants of the stadium.

    Go on, I'm listening.

    Good Morning,

We'll ask you again, please respect the rules of this forum and specifically this thread.
You're welcome to talk Argos in the "All Sports" area.

"Go on, I'm listening" is a little on the impolite side when a Moderator has asked you nicely to observe the posted rule.

Thank you for observing our rules.

But I wasn't talking about the Argos, I was talking about the conditions of the field.

You can't just listen and process information when it suits your own personal interests.

Well, since you are listening, just to make it clear, you replied on my post where I asked other user not to post about Argos games or Grey cup win in this post.

So,why are you complaining about my post to go back to topic, when poster I asked not to post Argos stuff in here, accepted that requests?

So technically ,this thread is about the conditions of the field, not to comment or congratulate Argos on their Grey Cup win,or their games.

You want to talk Argos we have threads for that, keep talking Argos games here, posts will be deleted, from now on,and posters will be warned.

    Now,once again

If you like to have discussion about this,PM me or any other Mod,don't hijack thread with Argos BS in here.

Has anyone seen if they have the grow lights on yet? They'll need to get it growing early for an early and busy year.
