Looking outside, it’s crazy to think there will be match in a couple of days. The grounds crew have dealt with such extreme weather so far this season. They need a vacation!!

Yeah my hats go off to them.

Just one look outside and you see why we cant go to a Winter schedule, even with a break like in Germany the field isn't going to hold up well.

Chivas play Atlas Friday. So seems highly unlikely.

Heated ground and special tarp on top of the grass will make it playable.

Refs still can postpone the game at any given time tomorrow before and during the game.

not sure that drainage is meant to deal with this much rain while at the same time handling 3 inches of melting ice/snow.

Plus the grounds area is currently unsafe to spectators, they will have a ton of work ahead of them if this doesn't all melt

Bill Manning was just on TSN 1050 and briefly mentioned that they are looking at installing hybrid grass but didn't go into details.

Sounds like they're looking into doing it at the end of this year.

I wonder if they regret scheduling that TFC II 'school day' game at BMO on Wednesday May 9, on the same day as the TFC match later that evening?

That's for replacing the present grass. Manning said in the article "As we go into the off-season, we may very well go that direction" when asked about hybrid turf.

They have been talking about it for years, since they started the Reno’s, they replaced the pitch 5 times in the last 8 years and have opt’d for natural each time.

The grounds people have said the issue with hybrid is you can't patch holes - you have to grow from seed. That's Ok when you have a week between games but we frequently have 3 days.

Would it be possible to buy a piece of the old turf?

    Hallowed ground, after all.

Anfield did some something similar a few years ago- in a glass box with plaque to boot!

I've been scheming since the Final to find a way to grab a piece...maybe can we pool together and bribe the groundscrew?
