New England maximum points is 48 given their 33 points with 5 games left (29 games played). Chicago and Columbus maximum points is 47. If DC United lose their maximum points is 48 as well.

Therefore TFC on 46 points just needs a DC United loss on Friday night and a TFC win on Sunday to clinch a playoff spot. De ja vu indeed, clinching the playoffs on Sunday can certainly happen

But can Brienne uselessly bomb down the left wing of an oppositions defense for 90 mins? remains to be seen imo.

Seba gets subbed on in the final 20 minutes and bags a golazo.

    My prediction.

    5 pm start

It will be on the main Fox network where they don't have an NFL game. First opportunity this season to show off the atmosphere at BMO to the neighbours.

Has anyone been able to figure out why the MLS site is saying we clinch with just a win? The math doesn't seem to add up as shown here

I think they made a mistake. If we win we have 49pts which means 7th place NE can't catch us, however, if 8th place DC wins their remaining 6 games they would have 51pts. So us losing the remaining 5 games after NYRB game and DC winning all 6 is obviously very unlikely to happen but technically we don't secure the play off spot on Sunday unless DC lose too.
At least that's how it looks to me.

it has something to do with the teams playing each other and therefore max points for all of the lower teams isn't possible.

Yes you are correct sir. DC has to play Orlando so one or both will lose points in that game which means we are in with the win on Sunday.

I can't wait for Sunday. It is an opportunity to truly showcase that we are a legitimate cup contender. I have been hesitating to talk about the shield race but if we can manage 3 points on Sunday I can't help but feel that it could be ours for the taking. We just need to show the league that we are capable of winning the big games. I would be completely shocked to see Seba start this game. I think it's 50/50 that we see him at all. That will need to be a scoreline decision. FWIW the Redbulls sat BWP and SK only played 23 minutes tonight so they will be fresh for Sunday.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if we win on Sunday we'd be the first to clinch. Come a long long way.

We can provided Dallas doesn't take all 3 points against NYCFC, San Jose wins and we win then yes we would be the first to clinch. We have definitely come a long way.

In case you were wondering why the game time was changed, here's the goalkeeper explaining why.

In essence, the Giants are acting as a lead in to a New York MLS game.

I have a feeling Giovinco starts.

And we better be effing loud since this game is going to be on Fox across the US.

Giovinco probably come on after 30 minutes or during the 2nd half. We've got to go all in on this one, close in on Dallas.

The split market thing is an interesting development. At first I was irritated about everyone not getting both games. But given the microscopic ratings of MLS games, have to give Fox some latitude to try some different things.
