A team that has gotten over a mid season slump.
A really good test for the defence and the midfield.

PHILLY SUCKS.
3-2 TFC
expert analysis.
TFC, then hip final concert then McGregor fight. Saturday is looking like a very notable night.
Looks like quite the night indeed
Hoping the poor form in Houston will give way to better in Philly. 3 pts vs EC team would help a lot. Most important person this week leading up to the game might be the physio. Really need Beitashour back.
Philly on a high. There will be goals. Seba and Ricketts, please.
FORMER FULL TIME KOOL-AID DRINKER
This game is a socialist utopia.
Reds vs Union
I'm going to steal that title for the rematch later this season. And the pic.
With credit.
Excellent idea Red4
Go big or something, something
4-2 win!
I find this game to be one of more intriguing match ups in Eastern Conference. Philly is a flawed team, but they can be very dangerous. It should be interesting to observe how Curtin and Vanney choose to approach the game.
Accounting for injuries, I see something like this for lineup
------------------Bono
Hagglund-Williams-Moor-Morgan
----------------Bradley
-----------Delgado---Osorio
----------------Chapman
----------Altidore---Giovinco
Will Vanney choose to go for broke and try to bury the game early riding on good form of Giovinco and Chapman, relying on Bradley to clean up on Philly counters... (except Bradley loves to push up to join in on the attack, so Delgado has to be very disciplined to cover for Bradley)
Or, knowing FBs are weak and Morgan probably not 90 mins fit yet, play more conservatively to protect the flanks and hit more on the counter. (More likely, considering TFC has won only once in Philly IIRC)
Philly relies too heavily on GK Andre Blake to bail them out IMO. RB Quisenberry is solid even for a rookie, but FB Fabinho is dangerous attacking, and also lapses in defence. Their 2 CBs are strong in the air, but not very good otherwise, protected by an experienced but rather slow Brian Carroll as DM.
Their midfield combo of Barnetta, Alberg, Bedoya, Ilsinho, Pontius are pretty damn good when they click, although Bedoya is still being integrated into the game. All of them can create, but can be caught pushed up too high sometimes on the counter. Barnetta is also a danger on set pieces, so TFC has to be disciplined not to give away free kicks in bad spots.
All held together by CJ Sapong who as a target man takes a lot of punishment and hard to push off the ball, allowing midfielders to make runs. Philly doesn't have much depth at forward, with Charlie Davies adding a bit of pace off the bench and rookie Herbers is more of a second forward who's still growing in the game.
It could easily be a goal fest if one of the teams score early and open up the game. Or both teams try to shield each other's weakness and play conservatively to a 1-1 draw.
Years have gone by and Ive finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.
I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: A pretty move, for the love of God.
And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I dont give a damn which team or country performs it.

With all the injuries and players returning from injuries I think we are out of sorts on how this team plays at the moment. Not to mess to much with whats working at the moment, but why isn't Ricketts playing 90 mins? Hamilton has proven he can score at this level so why not use him to sub for Jozy?
In my ideal world I would see:
---Gio------Jozy-------Ricketts----
--Oso-----------------Endo-----
------Bradley---Delgado------
-----Hag-----Zavs-----Moor---
----------Bono--------
Sub on Hamilton for Jozy, Mo for Ricketts if he can't play the 90 and chapman or williams depending on the game.
I know we don't play that formation or combo of players but I have a bad feeling about this game. Hopefully its a trap game for Phili.
3-4-3?
*shudder* flashbacks of aron winter days
Anyone have injury update on cheyrou, johnson, and irwin?

Both Kurt Larson and John Molinaro does pretty good job of keeping track of injuries in their TFC articles published every couple of days.

Beitashour should start. Might see Johnson sub in late for some running around minutes. Don't think we'll see Cheyrou. Irwin still a couple weeks from training.
So glad Johnson is going to get some minutes before the September WCQ games. Hopefully he and Ricketts are in good form.
Is Cooper available for this one?

Great to hear Will Johnson is close to being back. He's already a TFC legend in my books.
I'll be watching on MLS Live, usually those announcers are pretty bad. TTH can provide the soundtrack for the end of the game.
Uh...Cooper is in Philly

Philly on a high, I predict a loss, and Montreal win vs Chicago, NY Red Bulls win vs DC.
Boom - we will then be tied for 3rd & 4th with Philly, with Impact one point behind us in 5th
I hope I'm wrong!
Yeah, a loss today would be hardly unexpected, nor the end of the world.
