Default Other MLS Games - July 22-24

    Some great matchups this weekend

    Friday

San Jose @ RSL 11pm - Will SJE kick on from last week? RSL trying to solidify its place above the red line
Why you should stay up to watch this game - Plata and Rimando are always fun to watch when they are at home
    Prediction: 1-3

    Saturday

LAG @ Portland 3:30pm - 6 pointer Portland starting to roll.
Why you should watch this game - the mega stars of LA go on the turf in front of Timbers Army - great atmosphere
    Prediction: 2-1

Orlando @ Columbus 7:30pm - Orlando before Kreis and CBus in Crisis
Why you should watch this game later - we play Cbus again in a week and then there is Larin
    Prediction: 1-1

Philly @ Montreal 7:30pm - both teams adjusting well moving into the second half
Why you should watch this game later - 2 teams we need to figure out how to beat to move up in the East
    Prediction: 3-1

Chicago @ NER 7:30pm - Fire heading towards the eponymous dumpster
Why you should watch this game later - goals NER good offensively but defence is still an issue
    Prediction: 2-3

FCD @ Colorado 9pm - 2 best teams in the West, possibly in the league
Why you should watch this game later - Will Dallas finally win a big one away?
    Prediction: 2-2

Vancouver @ Houston 9:30pm - New signings get a run out for VWC - Houston just playing out the rest of the season
Why you should watch this game - 2 teams with no idea how to defend game states
    Prediction: 3-3

    Sunday

NYCFC @ NYRB 1:00pm - Could write a book about the stories behind this game, from NYRB's recent defensive meltdowns to NYCFC's midfield prowess to Saunders in the net to Marsch baiting refs
Why you should watch this game - these teams don't do boring derbies
    Prediction: 1-3

Seattle @ SKC 3:00pm - Underwhelming meets underwhelming
Why you should watch this game - I would suggest turning the sound down and put on something like La Boheme as it provides you with the atmosphere for all that whining and yelling and huffing and puffing and diving and whinging
    Prediction: 0-0

RSL, who we play in a week and a half, with the same sort of offence issues we have.

Some good goalkeeping from the highlights.

Portland defence unable to handle Zardis as the hold up player in a 4-3-3. Arena outcoaching Porter right now.

Columbus getting people back and always look dangerous on the attack but still got issues with their midfield being able to stop direct attacks. That and Larin will be sold a year from now - he's the real deal.

Wow, what a night! Was TFC and the L'impact trying to tell each other something? Seba and Drogba both making major statements. Larin with the winner, oops I mean it felt like a winner. Good times on planet soccer!

And Tchani on the scoreboard. I think we got em next week even if Seba doesn't score the hat trick. But yeah Orlando found the bar or just over it twice more. Larin. C'mon September...

The start to this NY derby is feeling eeriely similar to the start of the LAG/Timbers match.

    Early 2-0 lead for NYRB

That goal by McNamara along with the play of Kjlestan has made this game worth watching. Vierra was sent off for something he said to the refs and then decided to stick around a bit. Fine coming I think.

Seattle is in bad shape. That was hard to watch. The Sigi era is just about done I think, the only question is when they pull the plug.

I think it'll be really interesting to see what happens with Dempsey.

Well Jacob Peterson had his day vs Seattle. A goal and could've had a couple more.

Indeed. Going into the last year of his contract too.

We should never have gotten rid of him. He's one of the best players to have ever left TFC

Seattle has to decide if they want to give up on this season or not. They got a DP slot and a boatload of allocation and a lot of youth in the pipeline. Schmid likely to retire.

They should shut it down and focus on the future but the Seattle fan base hangs on to that "always made the playoffs" thing tightly.

Graham Ruthven's round up of the Sounders game in the Guardian calls for Sigi to go but also places a lot of blame on GM Garth Lagerway. Given Lagerway's decent reputation, that's a bit of a surprise. Could be facing not only a squad rebuilt and new coach but maybe whole new coaching staff and FO changes.

Not familiar with that kind of upheaval, nope, not at all...

Seattle's problems have been going on for a long time, but Sigi was able to mask them for a while.
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

    -Eduardo Galeano
