Harry Shipp traded to Seattle for GAM. Nice deal for the Sounders.

Not technically a transfer... but found this interesting:
Mike Petke named Real Monarchs head coach #RSL
The bigger question is what style do RSL want to play and does Petke fit that.
Apparently Boca have recieved a 14m bid for Dario Benedetto from an MLS side. Rumored to be Seattle.
If you don't remember him - he's the guy that scored the hat trick for America in the CCL final against the Impact.
Seattle would only do that if Dempsey is done, which might be true.
I'd caution against any rumours involving Seattle right now as they have come into the radar of consciousness enough the last few weeks that "Seattle" will be used by agents and gossip columnists.
The more interesting story is Celtic in for Nagbe of Portland - that is just weird.

weird in what way, I haven't seen this lad play to be honest, do you not think he is good enough?. I have been following this story for a while now, he was a guest of Celtic at the Barcelona game. I know they have put a fair bit of resources into signing him. These types of deals Rodgers at Celtic is usually very good at ie cheap players he buys to fit his attacking style of play. Coming into a Celtic team miles ahead in their division and unbeaten in the league so far, it's an ideal situation for any player.Depending on what rag you read in the UK, the deal is 1.5 to 3 million quid. Rodgers and his scouting team see something in his skillset they can work with and probably see it as a low risk, high reward type of deal.
I watched Benedetto when he was with Club Tijuana, and he was a beast, certainly has got better since then. I can't lie, would love to see him play.
On Benedetto

And, in case people missed it
RSL's top midfielder for years went to Dallas. http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2016/1...javier-morales
A lot going on out there with some teams but many waiting to get to 2017 and the open window.
Just back from Glasgow - watched my other team Celtic a couple of times. There wasn't much explanation given as to why the Nagbe deal fell through. Just that Celtic were pursuing other options. I''m curious if it was a price issue. The Portland fans rate Nagbe as better than Johnson & I expect the market for a USMNT player is getting quite a bit inflated. When you tell Celtic fans about the wages Bradley, Altidore , and Giovinco are on they are astounded.
Columbus has signed Ghana's Mensah to DP contract. Hopefully this starts a trend of CB DP signings, can only be good for the league.

This is definitely not us, and in a reply he says Montreal doesn't appear to be losing Oyongo, so I have to assume this is Vancouver.
RSL finds their own creative engine in a small #10 named Albert Rusnak - might be the signing of the offseason that one.
Now this would be big signing, if it happened. He's 30 in September but still a force.

Sebastian Blanco to Portand - not sure why they need an AM unless Nagbe is going.
MLS getting some familiar names from Liga MX is a concrete sign the wage gap is narrowing. Always wanted teams to draw more players from there, but hard to attract decent players I guess, between the wage on offer and view that MLS is a step down in quality.
Jesse Marsch takes over Red Bull Salzburg.
That's nuts. I'm sure he'll succeed. He's a talented and adaptable manager and that's a great gig for an up and coming MLS coach.
Terrible for the fans in New Jersey though. These are the perils of having these kinds of conglomerates owning multiple clubs. If they don't like it they should have fought harder against the initial takeover.
I'm sure Chris Armas (if he gets the job) will do ok, but to be honest, I think this drops RBNY in the preseason power rankings.
Blanco can play wide too. They'd be basically betting on him being an upgrade over Melano on the wing and cover in the hole when Valeri is injured.
Update: Marsch not going to Salzburg. Unclear if not offered or offered and declined. Add it to the silly season discards pile.
Yup

Grrr....I'm going to start attaching (rumour) to league stuff, even when 3 different reputable journos (no, not Twellman) say they have heard the same thing.
