At his age it's better to get max minutes down there now than spot bench minutes with the big club. Once everyone here is back from injury and we're getting serious down the stretch, there would be no room for him and he'd be buried like Lovitz. He'll get his shot next year probably.

He's 21. Same age as Cyle Larin. This isn't baseball where your pro career starts at 23.

Christian Pulisic is 17 and getting minutes with Dortmund. I'd say that he's already on the same level as Ricketts (if not better).

TFC II sign 21 year old Trinidadian striker Ricardo John. Played in the NCAA at Virginia Tech then signed with Central FC in the Trinidadian league.

These moves are in anticipation of what's going to happen next year perhaps?

Maybe, but I think they address some short term concerns as well. At least those latest two. The team has a lot of depth at the forward positions so the signing of John might be a bit of a project. But with Irwin injured, both Bono and Roberts have been with the first team, leaving Di Bennardo, who's really 3rd string, as the starting keeper at USL (and they've been calling up an academy keeper to back him up). So Ingham will shore up that spot and TFC or TFC II won't be screwed if another keeper gets hurt before Irwin returns. As for Hodge, as I've said before defense is clearly the team's weakest area and they're trying to make a push for the playoffs, so I'd expect he'll get a lot of playing time in the short term. If he performs well then maybe they bring him in permanently.

To follow up the above, looks like Di Bennardo is injured, he didn't travel tonight. So they had an immediate need at GK.

TFC II plays Orlando City B tonight at 7:30.

Not a great game until the last 5 mins when TFC tied the game at 90 mins, then 30 seconds later Orlando scored the winner 2-1 final.

I know this isn't for TFC 2 but for TFC Academy but there wasn't a thread for it.

Was a really sweet goal from their game yesterday to see.

Horrible idea attending this game in hopes of having the young ones avenge the loss. We lost 4 - 3 against montreal . Exciting game and John looked good at the very least

I thought John's goals were interesting. Not much skill involved but gave it 110% to put those across the line.

Comparatively, the other players on the field during those plays didn't appear to be matching his intensity. Something to be said for that and the mentality of the typical NA prospect.

    Couple pieces of news.

Bubacarr Jobe was suspended 3 games and Mitch Taintor was suspended 5 games for their roles in the brawl vs. FC Montreal. 2 of Taintor's games will likely carry over to next season as TFC II won't make the playoffs. A Montreal player also got 5 games.

And TFC II signed Shaan Hundal to a USL contract this morning. Well deserved for him.

Awesome. Didn't look out of place as a 16/17 year old.

TFC II vs. Charlotte in 10 minutes. Lots of players to watch here with Irwin, Simonin, Babouli, Edwards and Hamilton all starting. Also with Taintor suspended, Rocco Romeo has been called up from the L1O team. I talked about him a bit earlier, he might be our best defensive prospect.

4-1 bad guys around the 90th minute. Poor performance in all honesty. The midfield is completely without direction and shape. Team has struggled with this for a while.

Edwards was furious when he came off late.

Unfortunately I don't think we have the defensive quality to be competitive in every game. Also in this one I saw Edwards dropping really deep to get the ball often. We had Hamilton and John both playing as target men, but it was supposed to be a 4-3-3. Babouli in midfield didn't really work either.

Brian James can strike a ball well though.

Is Bent the right guy at this level? The midfield should at least have some sort of shape.

Seamed like someone higher up said: we need babouli, Hamilton and Irwin to all get minutes. Fit them into whatever system you can but they need to play.

Is that 9 goals Irwin has shopped in two TFC II starts?

    Worrisome.

Yeah, kind of wish they'd stop doing that.

In Irwin's case I'd make the exception, otherwise I don't think TFC II should be anyone's safety blanket. You want first team minutes, go out and fight for them.

I think that is a fair question. I fully understand that the mission/goals of the USL team are beyond just W-L-D but at a certain point consistently riding the bottom of the table makes one wonder if the players are getting the right instruction.
