Game ends 4-2. Goals from Edwards, two from Akinola, and Daniels off the bench. Pretty messy at times but a deserved win for TFC II.

Past 2 game the lads have really been doing well, I like seeing our youth shine and perform out there against men preparing them for the MLS

Question for those who have been keeping tabs on TFCII:

Is Thomas the captain because he's a good player who is playing most games or because he is a good captain personality?

    Both? Neither?

Mannella is captain, when he doesn't play or start then it's been Thomas. I would say it's both, he's probably the best defender on the regular roster and definitely has the "leader" personality. That being said, defense is easily the team's weakest area in terms of prospects, and I personally kind of doubt Thomas ever develops enough to make an impact at the MLS level. We'll see though.

Speaking of defenders though, as I said I don't see anyone currently on the TFC II roster as being ready, but lately I've heard a little about a 16 year old currently with the academy, Rocco Romeo (great name btw). He was called into Canada's most recent U17 camp and I've seen a few tweets about him (links below), so he's one to keep an eye on in the future.

Edwards is a different quality. Able to 3-4 defenders consistently.

Do you think he's significantly above Johnson? He's scored a few wonder goals of his own.

Haven't seen a lot of this team outside of highlights.

He's much more refined. Not as raw. Along with his dribbling and finishing ability, he has good vision and passing and an incredible engine.

I really think we're risking losing him to Europe by not signing him post fucking haste.

We can't lose him to Europe without a transfer fee though right? I mean he's still under contract with TFC II

You never know... Depends how long he's wrapped up.

If he's got an aggressive agent he can Camilo his way out of anything that has multiple 1 year team options.

Most of these young players are on a year and a year (one year contract, one year option) or two years at most. He'd just wait until he was six months off and sign on a free.

Honestly, I think Edwards and Giovinco upfront together would terrorize defenses. Play them as a two or put them on either side of Altidore/hamilton. Takes a lot of pressure off the need for an AM and the kid is so ready. He's like Davies in Vancouver, just at a different level.

MLS seems to have not realize yet that there are a core of talented players who mature younger and you risk them not reaching their true potential if they're held back. Not every kid is going to crack under the pressure.

MLS loves to pump its 22 year old college kids

Edwards is to TFC what Sanches is to Portugal, hes ready

And Thomas is at MLS depth ready thus far.

I'm not sure where everyone has this wide opinion that Edwards is so "young", he's 21 years old. Still deserves atleast a fair shot at a first team spot IMHO; which he should get in preseason next year after a stellar year in USL. Who knows maybe they're banking on the likes of 18, 17 and 16 year olds in Johnson, Hundaal, Akinola.

Wackload of games coming up. Vanney might be hesitant to rotate the squad because he's on a bit of hot seat and he wants to play the first teamers he trust, but I hope Edwards gets a shot at some decent mins.
“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.

I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’

And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”

With the first team? He still needs an MLS contract. He was only able to play in his debut under the extreme hardship clause, I doubt we'll be able to keep doing that.

What are you talking about, 21 is about the time good players start playing more considerable minutes in the first team.

North America needs to move away from breaking players in at 24 and older because of collage history, football players tend to start playing at a professional level much earlier than other sports.

What is this "man strength" lol.

Beautiful. I've seen more than enough, if there's a way to fit him under the cap he needs a contract asap.

TFC II wins on the road at Bethlehem Steel, 3-2, despite a truly awful late red card and PK after an all-ball challenge from Taintor. Two goals for Hundal, one assist for Edwards, one goal and assist for Uccello.
