Although I am not for cheerleaders, I don't think it can be said that they don't belong in football. In fact, I think they are fairly common in South American football (although I may be mistaken), just not European football.
RED IS OUR MASCOT!!!
'Nuff said!
TORONTO FC, 2017 MLS CHAMPIONS!!! (Still the greatest in league history!)
Bitchy the hawk is our real life mascot, we dont need a clown in a hawk suit.
Having cheerleader telling when/where/how/what to do is the most plastic way to support the team that I can think of.
Just to think of this for 2 seconds... there are plenty of threads that get derailed on this site where people are arguing about what "authentic" supporting consists of. I think however that you'd get near unanimous opinion that cheerleading is not it.
I hate the word "plastic" more than I hate the thought of cheerleaders.
That being said, mascots are cool and I would love a life size bitchy for the kids.
Absolutely no to Cheerleaders. I'm there to watch soccer. Period. Not half naked women who exploit their sexuality. Cheerleaders are brought in for boring sports with lots of down time where you need help engaging the fans. So not needed at a TFC game.
I'd be OK with a mascot version of Bitchy (although they might have to use a different name) who walks around the concourse greeting young children. As long as the mascot is never seen on the pitch.
I thought our mascot was my good friend, the Rollerblading Investigator?
If we ever did get a mascot i vote for this guy:
Oh I don't know, there are days watching the Sing A Long Karaoke chorus that goes on in Seattle where I think
Like, I respect a lot of their support but the whole piped in hand clap thing that is suppossed to be intimidating when player march in is just lame. That along with the same songs sung at the exact same time of the match regardless of what is going on, right down to the "We can't hear you singing" bit, and there doesn't seem much organic there.
Plastic is an appropriate name for all that.

Lame MLS contest, choose your favourite mascot:

I didn't even know that these existed (I knew there were mascots, but hadn't seen them).
The SJ mascot looks like the Cookie Monster's worried granfather - "I do with he would get off the cookies."
And what the actual fuck is Rapids Man?
Toronto 'til I die - but I think they're trying to kill me.
We are an MLSE owned team, so I say our mascot is Condie the Condominium.

You know if they give us the chance to name it, we should call any mascot Al O'Cashun.
Yeah I guess I dont judge people who are loud. Not saying that's what youre doing, but many do.
Ive seen manufactured athmosphere that is better than BMO on many days. Organic athmosphere has a higher celing to be sure but weve only got close to that a couple times.
We get maybe 1000 people singing at once. Sweet Caroline at a Red Sox game is completely mamufactured but still feels fanufactured. And its way louder than any of our songs get. YNWA at Anfield is a sing along, as is forever blowing bubbles. It wouldnt hurt to have a team run song that people sing along with.
Also I think plastic is a little snooty and antagonistic as a word so I dont criticize anyone elses fandom.
Lastly. 112 and 114 sing different songs at the same time. That would never happen under a "plastic" scenario. And then it would be louder.
When Seattle goes down a goal at minute 35 and certain supporter sections still sing "We can't hear you singing" at minute 37, cause they always do the same order of songs each game, paint me not impressed. Especially when they are playing some team from the East who have like maybe 5 fans there. Just gone down a goal - singing at fans who are not there that you can't hear them. It is cringe worthy.
Organic isn't perfect but it beats that crap.
Anyways, focus on the positive - Portland and DCU are the models to be looking at. Wish BMO would physically bounce more.
Right, but as with anything, it should be a balance.
I like having capos running the show but we should be introducing something to get others involved. I dont really care if its on the big screen and i also dont care who that bothers.
When the stadium is more involved, theyll get over it.
