While I do want to still give Altidore a chance because with our luck everything will magically work out for him elsewhere, I've seen this second opinion from doctors happen to often, more often than not the athlete just wants the doctor to tell them something else, everyone wants the magic bullet that fixes all problems.
I'm skeptical because of the track record, prove to me you can last close to a full season first.
I guess. It's mostly the salary that bothers me. If we want to do something significant beyond Ricketts I figure we'd have to move someone out. Adding another big salary worries me, like we'll get into another situation where we had Moore and Gomez and had to get rid of them.
I like Perquis, but his salary number is burning a hole in our spreadsheets right now.
How long does his contract run for? I'm not sure if we really need a veteran presence for a playoff run.
We very well could have:
GK: Irwin
Def: Morrow, Moor, Perquis, Beit
Mid: Cheyrou, Bradley, Johnson, Osorio
FW: Gio, Altidore
That's a pretty veteran heavy 11 but would leave us inexperienced off the bench.
whats osarios salary cap? im okay with him being depth if it brings in a consistent upgrade
Yeah, we already have a good player in Johnson for the Canadian content, Osorio is a so-so player.
Raheem Edwards has signed another short term contract will be available this weekend against Chicago.
Remember The Man, The Legend, The Goal 5-12-07 and All That #9 Left On The Pitch, Thanks For The Memories !!!
A midfield of Cheyrou Bradley and Johnson would be mighty slow. Needs a bit of speed and offensive thrust.
And as much as people keep wanting Bradley to play as an AM, that ain't gonna happen. Nor is Cheyrou an all game AM anymore.
That's why we need Delgado. Endoh and Osorio as starters, even if its platooning.
Ricketts is terrible I would rather have Mista

Hmmmmmm
Seattle extend Hercs deal today so he's probably off the books now and have the space to sign Ricketts.
He's bad but he's not that bad. He's like a less skilled, more level headed Jackson or a slower Oduro. He would have been alright in MLS 2.0 but not so much anymore. I assume he will be getting paid way more than he should be too.
Hopefully he makes me eat my words but I don't see it happening.
lets see how much BEZ overpays for him.i say 250k a year for 2 yrs and he will buy him out at the end of the season.
We need a creative player. that can score and set others to score including Giovinco and vice versa.
I don't understand where all this hate for Ricketts. He's called to represent his country and shows up. Floro sees value in him and if he signs than so does TFC. MLS would be a perfect league for him, he can slot in several positions including right back where only cover is Bloom/Hagglund and is fast+strong. Give the guy a chance.
If his selections are any indication, Floro's judgement on players is... sketchy.
Ricketts can run and God bless him, works his ass off. That's about all he's got going for him. He can score against basically USL level calibre opponents, but his finishing is inconsistent, to put it generously. He has first touch of a dead grandma. He can't cross, nor dribble well. Or make a pass other than very simple ones. He has ok ball movement, but ruined by his poor technique. He's basically another poacher, and we need a hold up guy who can link up with Giovinco, so he's a luxury guy TFC can't afford.
When a striker is told to play right back, it usually means the manager doesn't rate him much as an attacker.
Ricketts might have had a spot in MLS 1.0 era when pure athleticism gets you a roster spot and has no business playing in MLS 3.0. He's like a poor man's Oduro.

Ricketts is the Canadian Robbie Findley
Looking at how bare our bench got recently I would take Ricketts for depth if we have the cap room to spare and he isn't given some kind of stupid size contract. I doubt we will see anyone else up front because they are expecting Altidore to be back. Hoping he stays healthy this time but not going to be terribly surprised if he has to miss some more games due to injury between now and the end of the season. It has been the trend. They thought they had his hamstring issues figured out last time too.
