Nope, apparently he was offered a new deal at QPR but has decided to walk away. Before he turned it on (basically coinciding with choosing to rep canada) I think he would have been a TAM level player but now i can't see him accepting the 500-800k a season we could offer without having to open up a DP slot.Originally Posted by reggie

They need to use the same magic calculator LA does to fit in all those players. Pay them a certain amount to play on the MLS books and then pay for houses and cars and whatnot on the backend to make up the rest of the salary. I am sure LA is doing some shit like that.
Surprising how quiet he's been this year, he was our main spokesman last year.
For starters, he's not the president anymore. Not his job to be the spokesman for the club.
I also don't think there's a lot to say about our season so far. We've neither been outright good or bad in most games. We have a generally comfortable position given the way our schedule and injuries have broken. Next 5-7 games will be big.
I'm surprised that Ricketts deals hasn't happened. Makes me think that it isn't going to happen - or that they are waiting on another deal and he is the back-up. Either way - it's a sign that there isn't much confidence or need in the signing or it would have happened on day 1 of the window.

He's still on the roster because he is an incredible prospect. I can't wait to see him on the field later this season. I wouldn't be surprised to see him be in the starting eleven by the end of the season.

then SOMEONE's gotta go for a more creative/quicker thinking midfield, but Vanney told us to be okay with winning 1-0 games. perhaps hes using defensive depth to win 1-0 right through the playoffs.
The interview video after the game actually indicated that although teams have to learn to win 1-0 that he would prefer if TFC would learn to be patient and finish teams off using the good tactics that got them the 1-0 lead in the first place.
i.e. He'd take a 1-0 over a tie or a loss but he wants TFC to not get out of shape chasing the second goal.
One of Williams, Hagglund or Zaveletta will go most likely. My guess is still Hagglund.
it's tough to wrap up an international spot like this. That's a valuable resource. Maybe there's a green card on tech horizon or whatever?
He looks to be a good prospect, but I wouldn't go overboard.
We only have 5 internationals on the roster, meaning 3 free spots. Even if we didn't have any free it's easy to trade for a spot if you need one.

Huh, that's too bad. I guess Zavaleta and Hagglund showing well this year meant he wasn't needed. I'll appreciate him for what he was - on a good day perhaps our best ever Centre back and A guy who wore his heart on his sleeve.
Now, Mutual termination means we don't have him on the cap anymore, right?

Yup, he's completely wiped from the books. As we're half way through the season, this would open up roughly 213k in cap space.
I hope we do something beyond Ricketts with this space. I would have thought Ricketts could fit without extra cap room considering the salary he should command.
Perquis wasn't a bad player... he looked a lot better with Moor beside him. But that cap hit was way too much.
seemed to be a popular guy with his teammates especially with gio and benoit,i hope this doesnt screw with the team chemistry.
I agree with the positive evaluation. Always liked his style and swashbuckling approach to the game. How could he have been expected to hold his place when trades and draft picks throughout his time seemed to always involve obtaining more central defenders?

Normally i would get excited about a signing coming in,but im jus worried that bez is going to overpay for a guy like ricketts.
There's no actual precedent for Bez giving a guy like Ricketts more than 400K. Ricketts will come in a little over the 100k mark, we'll be fine.
im jus worried that he will give him 150 k for the rest of the season,which will 300k next season.he has got no more then 150k value on this team for what he will bring,thats my opinion,i hope im wrong and he will be a good asset to the team if we sign him.
Not super stoked on parting way with Perquis thought he's been really solid this year in the back, great leadership and was a veteran presence. As it's been known he was overpaid though... Should of been making 120-150 for a year; the one thing I do see as a positive is tat Hagglund will get more minutes and tbh I've really liked his play thought he's been solid every minute he's played.
if the only player we get is Ricketts I'll be pissed lol not nearly enough.
