Quintero is an everyday starter for San Jose, they won't get rid of him. However I've long thought Shea Salinas would be a good target for us. Doesn't really have a wow factor to him, but he's a smart player, good passer, strong on both sides of the ball. Tons of experience and no injury history, and cheap (166k). This is the first year that he's no longer being penciled into SJ's starting XI. He only has 6 starts this year (12 appearances off the bench). Unfortunately I don't think they have enough depth at winger to be willing to trade him (I don't know what we'd give up either).

no way in hell we'd ever be able to score any of those players except MAYBE Rowe. There is rumour he is being scouted overseas (MLStransfers Twitter rumour) he's young and he's very very good value for money, besides is he even a winger?

    Fantasy Trade: Manneh for Altidore

for the record I don't think it'd happen because I think both teams rate their player over the other's but I think it would be a win-win good deal

thinking about this more (beyond surface) and this would open up a DP spot for us and essentially leave us (as is) with at least a million in cap space next year (Damien and Jozy gone). We'd be able to still add a DP and a TAM level guy with the leftover money. That's all assuming that Kekuta is a GA.

I actually think this would be a good deal for both. Although not sure that Vancouver could sell Altidore as a DP / high profile signing given his injuries and Toronto certainly couldn't because people would go Kekuta who???

Unpopular preference, but I'd still take Altidore. His game this year was full of potential. I was a little excited to see how good he would get (when he inevitably started scoring).

Those guys are all valued - we'd have to part with something good in return.

Manneh is very overrated on this board. I don't even think the Southsiders rate him as highly as we do.

lol. no shit... no idiot GM is going to get fleeced to give up a valuable player.

I do think all of these players can be made available for the right price.

Finlay: after 2 great seasons, suffering from a weird funk in finishing. For some reason he's not scoring the goals he used to last season. Assist numbers are still good, but a change of scenery might get him back on track.

Boniek Garcia: no longer a guaranteed starter and coming off the bench for Houston often enough. No goals this season so far. He's better than what he's showing at Houston last 2 seasons.

Rowe: Probably hardest to pry from NE. Versatile midfielder who can play CAM and RM. He's been a starter so far this season for NE, but NE is stuck on another mediocre season that can go sideways very fast. Jay Heaps might want to cash in on one of his midfleld depth to bolster his defence or add another striker (because Charlie Davies, Agudelo and Bunbury sucking)

Lleget: Probably the easiest player to get out of the 4. He's been riding the sub bench recently and rumoured to be clamouring for a starting role. He has shown he can finish at MLS level.

I wouldn't get Manneh for a bag of balls and some Garber bucks.

Well that's the point. Anyone can make a fantasy list of players they'd like on this team, doesn't mean obtaining them is practical.

What you're proposing doesn't seem to fit with what TFC has to offer. Maybe the crew gets interested for a package of smaller parts but I doubt it. And if its allocation going the other way, why not just go out and scout a player yourself rather than give something up?

Someone asked for MLS starting wingers, so I listed a few that I think can be traded for.

Going after 'proven' MLS players is easier than trying to scout one yourself.

And a lot more of a sure thing when you are hoping for a good playoff run. It would cost a bit but would be less riskier than throwing TAM money at some unknown South American player who has to adjust to MLS in time to contribute and may never manage to acclimate to the league.

unless you got people this is speculation at best like any other rumor. Dont forget Barca was knocking on the door last year.

I don't see any Seria A club paying Giovinco $7 millions a year, and that's main reason why he is here, after all money talks.

Unless he wants to play for the Italian national team, in which case he has been shown that TFC and MLS won't cut it even as league MVP.

oh, I agree, it's total Rumour. Just saying that IMO someone will come get Gio sooner or later so we should enjoy him while we can. Look at the success of Payet for West Ham. Similar kind of player.

he was in a similar situation but hes older, getting paid in a city where hes adored, hes also played for some top teams and achieved a bit there if im not mistaken, now he wants to be number one and achieve which he can do here rather than ride the pine

I love the guy, but this season doesn't exactly leave me fearful Gio is going anywhere. Even as a free kick specialist he'd look lost in Serie A given his run of form.

Giovinco is 29, he is not going anywhere. I think the only thing to worry about now is his health. We are definitely a 1 man team.

The club wouldn't have to (necessarily), clubs renegotiate salaries with players after agreeing a fee with the parent club. He makes what, 5m euros? Milan would likely be able to afford something comparable once new ownership comes in and would offer the opportunity of playing for a historic club.

Even if its not Milan, a EL/mid-table team could come calling and if Seba wants to go back, he'll take less money. At over 30, he'll need to. I'd be shocked to see him here for the 2018 season, I'm just hoping we can squeeze in one more season.

Yeah, Giovinco is getting up there in age now, if we lose him it's to the Chinese league when he gets to 32 or so.

he's scored a goal in his last 10. can this argument be done with yet?

He's great, but there other guys in the team who are just as vital.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't he recently reject a move to the Chinese league

We've been a below average team the last ten games: we can be a dangerous team when he's on.
