We only have 8 professional soccer teams in the whole of Canada ...
3 in MLS - Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver
2 in NASL - Edmonton and Ottawa
3 in USL - Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.

Given the ownership relationship between the MLS and USL franchises this results in us only having 5 teams competing in our Canadian Club Championship.
A lot smaller than your US Open Cup competition.
