The opponent still has to stop it.

Streaks are meant to be broken...

"Toronto FC have never won at Red Bull Arena. The Red Bulls are 5-0-1 all-time vs. TFC in Harrison – the lone draw coming in 2014, a 2-2 result.
The Red Bulls are 9-1-1 all-time in home matches vs. Toronto FC, the only TFC victory coming in 2008 at Giants Stadium."

I got that tidbit from this article which has a lot of interesting opening weekend info...

Soccernomics gave the science years ago of free kicks. It hasn't made 'keepers be able to stop the shots, even if they know the strategy.

I'm guessing Beitashour isn't ready and that Cheyrou is held back for a sub in the second half.
    No updated lineup projections yet?

If we earn a result in this one, it will be thanks to Irwin. Too many question marks with our starting lineup and formation at the moment.

This is not what I would prefer but...

Seba in the middle, Osorio on the left top, switch Johnson to the right mid and Cheyrou in the left mid.

This is going to collapse down to a 4-5-1 pretty quickly.

    --------Seba-----------Endoh-------
    -WJ----------Bradley--------Oso---
    -------------Cheyrou------------
    Morrow--Perquis--moor---Bietashour
    ---------------Clint----------------

Bench: Roberts, Delgato, Williams, Hamilton, Morgan, Lovitz? Chapman?

Thats a pretty thin looking team

You know, if we were playing anybody else in the East but NYRB , I'd be calling for us to get a point out of this game.

    --Johnson------Bradley-------Cheyrou--
    ---Altidore---Giovinco-----Osorio--------

Bench: Roberts, Bloom, Hagglund, Delgado, Endoh, Hamilton

I'm guessing Vanney is playing games with Altidore's status (of course, without him, I'd put Endoh in and have Chapman added to the bench)

It will be a great time, looking forward to it all including more than a few cold ones at Peter Dillon's on Saturday night.

I have a feeling Vanney might go more defensive with the 4-2-3-1 for the 1st half, then switch to 4-3-3 depending on the score.

Something like this, but more a straight 4-5-1 with Cheyrou, Johnson and Bradley Clogging up the middle, Endoh and Osorio wide. Is Beitashour a beitashour thing?

What's NYRBs projected lineup like? Are they the class of the east again, them and Columbus?

Agree, 4-5-1 would be perfect with 3 box to box CM. I think that's exactly what we used when we vs. NYRB last year in October. Beitashour should be good to go as well.

Neil D put out an article today saying Lovitz was playing up top left with the first team in training today. Would be an interesting move.

I'm happy with this formation. It will clog the midfield and allow the possibility of a quick counter. I'm probably going to end up in hell but I have to watch the game on my phone during my cousins's sons baptism. I just have to remember not to yell for the first 30 minutes or so. I'm hoping for a result, I want to say 2-1 TFC but I'd be happy with 1 point as well.

I think 2-1 TFC is very possible, the guys are ambitious and they are confident vs. this NYRB team which they beat last year. Personally, I don't see BWP being in-form yet.
