This is "we respect this city's roots", not 'fuck you, soccer fans.' I hate the Argos coming into BMO as irrationally as the next guy (given how much real damage it'll do with six-day turnovers) but I don't think this has anything to do with that.

They are a bit TOO retro for me. If they're going that route, I'd have preferred something off the north american taste spectrum -- like a cross-sash style ala south america or stripes, or checkered etc. Maybe that cool-ass long-sleeve mock turtleneck thing they did at Liverpool and Tottenham for a couple of seasons.

This feels a bit like a 70s parody.

And the conspiracy thoughts just keep a coming...this one from the MLS site.

isn't that colour scheme basically the BMO colours? White with red around the BMO and Blue trim?

According to the MLS sub reddit, seems like a lot of the other clubs' supporters like our new kit...of course, we complain. lol.

You can't change jersey or team colours without going through a MLS committee.

My personal beef is that the coloured block area makes the sponsorship really pop. I've never sat well with jerseys being billboards though I do wear them. Call me untraditional that way.

All in all, it could have been a lot worse. Let's not forget possibly the worst MLS kit ever - and isn't this a home kit?

lol Every time I change my avatar, someone quietly changes theirs to the exact same thing (having personally modified this one). That said, I DO hope this catches on; mentioned before that I'm not a fan of badges changing too often, but, were we to change to this one to mark 20/25 years, I'd be happy (love our current badge, mind).

Can't see myself ever buying this new jersey, but I can live with it for a couple seasons. That onyx jersey really set the bar high, for me, and our current home jerseys are still the most gorgeous thing I've ever seen. ^^

It always bugged me how they didn't finish the circle under the banner. I agree this should be our main badge, but I would replace the All For One banner and just put the writing inside the circle the same way Toronto Football Club is.

Looks crappy, but hey, it's an away kit and far from embarrassing like the crew one. As far as I'm concerned they can dress however they want. The plus side is the money will look better in my pocket.

They'll have the jersey sales to think about and I'd suspect this will go down as a missed opportunity. But again, their problem, not ours.

Actually if you read closely what TFC said to the Sun it is blue for blues sake. We are not Canada's team etc.

Interesting; I like the balance the scarf/banner adds, and it's unique to see it incorporated into a circular badge like this. Still, I could see your idea working, as well… I just like the variation, here, as opposed to adding more of the same text/font.

Well, I modified this one (my avatar, for anyone only noticing this post); perhaps you could have a go (always love this sort of thing).

    Apologies for going off-topic.

Not a fan. I can see their logic in adding blue, but with the Argos fiasco, it's a bad decision. Montreal has blue, vancouver has blue, we don't need to introduce blue for blue's sake.
I'd have preferred an all white kit. The blue shorts are way too much, I hope they never wear them at BMO. TFC has had years to pay homage to the blizzard, or metros Croatia, and haven't. Now it seems like far too convenient an excuse. This year a strip of blue and some shorts. Next year blue seats at bmo

I like the kit. Didn't expect to but I think it's good and one of the better white ones I've seen in MLS. Way better than the Dunfield-era white one.

I'm also not going to get all whiny about the blue stripes. It's an alternate kit FFS. I have a green Liverpool jersey, a yellow one, a black one, and a gray one and they kind of coined themselves the Reds for a lot more years than we have. Home one will stay red like theirs did and that's pretty much all that matters.

I like it. I'm old enough to remember the Blizzard in their NASL days and remember watching them take on the Cosmos during the playoffs at the old Ex. The kit gives a nod to that era without overpowering the blue part.

But I'm not interested in buying one because I'm not interested in white jerseys (too easily stained).

the blue shorts make it look like a mis-matched kids house league kit

if they were going to pick up on blue for Toronto, would have made more sense to stick the Toronto city flag on it some where...

If you are talking about Liverpool

    a) their first kit ever was blue

    b) Their away kit a few years ago was white and blue (no red at all)
