For those wondering about coverage over the South and how far back it goes

Thanks for the photo update, gives a great sense of the scale.
Thanks, that was awesome.
It appears to be a metal roof. If it is, can you imagine how loud it'll be when it rains?

Shots fired.
Great pictures, thanks!
I'm surprised to see the pitch all torn out. They were taking such loving care of the old pitch since the last TFC game, even put some pesticides down (for which they must have gotten an exception).
I wonder why the new pitch, what changes will be made in terms of undersoil, grass type etc. Or maybe going straight to full-field plastic.

Great collection of shots @ogthedim . The grey skies make for a nice background -- hopefully not anything of a foreshadowing nature. I prefer to think of ominous in a good way as in "wait till we bring the thunder to this place".
great pics!
thank you.
just thinking how loud it might be with that roof.
First - THANK YOU to Kaz and OgtheDim (and any I may have missed) for the new pics. MUCH APPRECIATED!
Alixir - my reply to JWJH88 was meant for him/her based on past posts. That's why I asked him/her specifically. Your reply was of no use.
As well, some, including myself DID post pics after the south canopy went up. Water under the bridge because we have NEW pictures but be aware some of us have used our personal time to update past pics when possible.
Overall, the countdown is ON! Soon the pitch will be ready for ALL to see!!!
Wow - seems like a lot to do in a month. I wonder how well the grass will play - might only have a week or two to bed in. Also the south roof doesn't look like it will do much - the rain is rarely dropping vertically coming of the lake.
Great photos.
I think with those what look like metal sheets sliding into place as the new roof, I think they will echo the noise hugely!!!! tho I am not to sure about the South End roof having as much of an impact since the roof is so dam high above from the actual South End fans.
First...I have probably asked as much as JWJH88 thats why I replied to your comment and being an open forum I am free to reply to any post on here.
As far as the second quote goes. Please be aware how many times in this thread I have told those who have gone and done the leg work taking pictures on their personal time how much I appreciate what they are doing.
FORMER FULL TIME KOOL-AID DRINKER
Sorry I opened up such a can of worms.. I have recently become a real fan of the TFC and thought joining this forum would be a cool way to keep up on things. Guess I was wrong. I sure did not expect this kind of response so I will no longer get involved and just watch from afar.
Enjoy the forums.
Go TFC Go
Seems they aren't quite ready to lay the pitch but this February weather is not helping things. I'd expect it has to happen soon.
It's great to see the support structures gone finally..
Hey man don't let a few posts bother ya. Lots of great people on this forum. The first post I ever posted I got told off by a few people for my "ignorance" on the subject and I thought what a bunch of assholes there are here....but that is not the case. Negative people come and go but don't let that stop you from participating. You just have to build a bit of a filter or thicker skin let's say for that kind of stuff. Lots of positive stuff in here. That's my two cents anyway.
Thx guys.
I got it now
Cheers
quote from Canadian Press article this afternoon posted by Neil Davidson:
"...The CFL endzones will be artificial turf but will be covered up during soccer games by some six rows of temporary seats at each end. Hunter says the stadium should look the same for soccer as it always does.As for the football lines on the field, Hunter is confident they have the technology and time to remove them before the next soccer game kicks off..."

Just about the WORST way to handle issues with the pitch in my opinion.
Not that a give two fucks about the Argo players but they are going to hate having to play on a field with TWO different surfaces. Guaranteed that will create issues for them around performance and with injuries.
Wembley Stadium has shown the best way to do this. They put a temporary fieldturf pitch in for NFL games on TOP of the existing grass surface with a type of 'riser' between the surfaces. When the gridiron guys are done the turf and riser comes out and the grass is pristine. Yes its not the most inexpensive option but is a guaranteed means to make sure that the soccer surface is not impacted.

That article indicated the new field was going in this week. Mind you given the weather...
