I think I was around 8 years old the first time I saw the Dome and it was breathtaking. New BMO has brought that moment back.

Has the city decided to close the Gardiner and subways that weekend yet, as they have been known to do on TFC game days?

All good. Normally I don't even bother with the car when I go downtown and use TTC. This was an exception as I had a few things to do in Etobicoke.

Well how about that? Wasn't ever really clear on the blvd name but definitely called the main entrance "Princess Gates".

For sure. My only fear is that drivers might be looking too much at it and not the road.

Hopefully it is RED artwork, and not blue.

I bet it's neutral between the two. It sounds like they are going to have lights to change the look of it depending on whose playing.

I was hoping it was possible to provide a backdrop to the South End, could be fantastic if done right.

While driving by last night the place was glowing red. There were a bunch of lights and it looked great. I doubt they were heaters for workers, but who knows.

That is how most things are done today (I work with concert / stage lighting frequently). Why paint something red or blue (or green or anything) when you can just leave it gray and project a light on it. Hell.... it works for the SkyDome and the CN Tower.

The lighting should definitely enhance the look of the stadium for TFC and Argo games. Hence all the night games that have been scheduled for both clubs this season, which is just fine by me.

A nice mural of the players would be a nice touch, or something to celebrate the 10th season

A mural of the fans. Or select players (Brennan, Dichio, DeRo, Henry, and Giovinco). No coaches because success has no father's.

Something like how bilbaos stadium used to be during construction, with an all for one incorporated into.

I went down yesterday and took a couple pictures.

    http://imgur.com/a/RiCiF

The first pic I lined up with the back railing on the south concourse to give you a sense of how far back the canopy goes. Ultimately not that far. If it rains straight down it will cover the back row, but that never happens. The original renderings covered the concourse (mitigating future repairs or whatever), but that is not the case here. The other issue is the height, it really is way up there, the pictures don't do it justice. If the roof sloped down at the back that would be one thing, but it slopes up. Any temp seating that is installed will not be under the roof.

The second pic is of the north west corner. As you can see those extra pieces sticking out of the column are for the catwalk. East side catwalk has not been installed yet. As of yesterday you can see the extra roof beams at the end have been installed on this corner (so the roof goes out to the column). The other 3 corners have not been installed and are sitting on the ground. It's crazy how large they are when you see them up close.

As far as the roof goes, the aluminum (or whatever it is) pieces are stacked on the ground ready to be put up. I looked out my window this morning and saw the crane lifting them into place.

Does the South Roof have rigging for tifos? I would think that would be a no-brainer for the club. I'd love to see the home opening day tifo you guys could put up.

Rigging is being installed but we don't have details yet, and it won't be ready for opening day.

Loved what the Timbers Army did with their rigged TIFOS yesterday. Will be interested to see what some of the ideas are for the first one in Toronto once everything is in place.
