Again I mean no harm here I admire TFC fans for what you have built in only 10 years and I have a very healthy respect for the future of MLS in North America. But I really want to understand the hatred for the CFL on this side.
I'm not a mod BUT as I stated earlier, there is another thread for the Argo discussion located here - http://forums.redpatchboys.ca/showth...77#post1780277

It could go terribly with wrecked pitches/distinct football lines or it could go smoothly with no effects whatsoever. If 3 years go by and the pitch is as good as before and the Argos scheduling doesn't affect TFC's in any way, I'm positive that the Argos and their fans would receive far less hate. As for the audience, you have to remember that a lot of the people on this board are those who are most "invested" in TFC/MLS. We've already seen and experienced the plastic pitches, the football lines, the bobbly grass, etc. and just as the team might be turning it around from being the joke of the league to one of the most talented, here comes this threat that may significantly affect the team's ability to perform and ruin the matchday experience... you can see how some of these heavily invested individuals may harbor some dislike of the team that is the crux of the threat? That said, wishing death upon the franchise/league may be a little overboard but I think you can interpret that as just "I don't want the Argos affecting TFC in any way." I think if you asked a more casual audience (ie. not one of the major supporters groups lol) they would be mostly apathetic or maybe even receptive to the Argos move.
See this is exactly what I was looking for! I feel like most of you don't wish anything bad on the Argos. And I can definitely be apathetic towards TFC supporters worried about the momentum being slowed down....I'm an oilers fan...enough said. Like I said I am optimistic that your pitch will be in good shape. I've heard ground keepers saying that soccer and rugby are harder on a pitch than football. Again I'm equal to your passion I love the CFL and I love the upwards swing it's on right now (New stadiums/TV deal/expansion). I just want this to work out for both sides

This was mentioned before the Rogers Center was built for not only the Jays but the Argos, the Argos was a big reason that the Rogers Center was built, you know how much of our tax money was spent to build that place , BMO field was built for peanuts compared to the money that was spent to build the Rogers Center for one of the main tenets the Argos. Now that stadium is n longer good for them so they have come to another stadium and people wonder why some of us have a problem with the Argos moving to BMO and leaving a stadium that was also built for them with millions and millions of our tax money. Yes BMO was built with tax money but nothing close to what the Rogers Center was built for. This is just another reason why some have a problem with this Argo BMO Field move.

Back on topic. It will be wonderful to hear sound stay in. Its the only reason I was dying for a roof really.

I think it will do a lot more for support if we can all hear each other.

Yup, that and our worst attendance days were when it was raining. I've been soaked at BMO Field during rain showers on otherwise warm sunny days and it ruined an otherwise fun vibe. I usually combine game day with exploring and socializing downtown so carrying a jacket on a warm day is not convenient (I travel downtown using the GO train or subway+streetcar). Having a roof is a game changer in many ways.

End of February or early March. Will probably be weather dependent.

No pics, but during my commute this am and glancing over while trying not to rear-end the guy in front of me I did notice that the roof over the west side has the arch completed and it looks like the south end might be nearing completion. The east side is about 2/3 done.

Some crappy weather over the next coupla days so it might be slower again.

I somewhat surprised the team hasn't done that yet for one of their Youtube-style commercials.

Took some snaps from the Gardiner today, nothing fancy but shows the progress made, which has been substantial. Will post them here tonight.

Southend roof will go up as soon as they're done those cross beam arches on the east and west. Should be cool to see.
I'll see if I can find out what day exactly, if any of you want to grab a lawn chair to see it happening.

Just passed by the stadium. Seems like only the last link is missing from the east arch. So they could potentially do the south end roof tomorrow?

it kind of reminds me of two giant sentries glaring down at a tiny field between them. That, or a pair of Angry Bird Eyebrows. I think it's going to look super-imposing.

    Ivy...

That would be great to see...I imagine that the weather would have to be just about perfect, though: no wind, reasonable temperature, no precipitation, etc.

It won't be quite as interesting as watching the helicopter put the top sections of the CN tower up, but it could be fun, regardless.

I suspect that you will see the final roof pieces (there are beams on either end) go in on the east and west before the South roof goes up. I could be wrong but I would think it would make it easier for those to go in without it.
