Two questions, what will be the official compacity for soccer with the new renovations? I have seen that for the CFL , capacity will be around 25 000, why will the CFL capacity be smaller than for soccer?

Ok yes that makes sense being less capacity for the CFL because of the need to remove some of the south end stands due to the CFL end zones, however, from what I have seen 25 000 for the CFL compared to 29 000 for soccer means about 4000 less seats for the CFL, so I would think that most of the south stands will not be in use during CFL games then.
Don't know what to tell you. 25,000 seems inaccurate.
Initially the plans (also as presented to TFC supporters) showed that a significant portion of the south end would be retractable. In that config, there would have been little to no northward shift of the CFL field.
The later plans, and how it looks in the picture of the construction, is that only a small number of south end rows are removable (instead of retractable), and there's a significant northward shift of the CFL field. It's likely much cheaper to build that way. But as a result, I assume there won't be as much of a difference between the soccer & CFL capacity as previously estimated.
the 25,000 number came out of a nearly fully retractable North and South End with a centered CFL field and 30,000+ for Soccer. Since that is not happening TC will have between 28k and 29k (as 2000 seats are gone and I'm not sure how many are coming back for the "terrace". CFL well now be between 25,000 and 27,500 depending if the keep the Southend open or not

Pretty darn impressive driving by on the Gardiner. Frame on the East up, 1/3 of the frame on the West. It's going to become more of a presence for sure.
Well this Toronto Sun writer who most likely has not set foot in BMO since it was built seems to think that the new renovations will bring it to 40 000, and yes I realize that for special events temporary stands will be brought in to bring it to 40 000 but this informed writer makes it sound like its a permanent 40 000 Lol. http://www.torontosun.com/2016/01/01...winter-classic.
You want pics - you got pics ........ I was down there today. The south end roof fabrication is actually complete - you can see it on the ground in a number of the pictures. Just waiting to be lifted into place.
The first 9 are taken with my cellphone - the rest are with my camera
2 more posts to follow as we're limited to 15 pictures per post
oooooooooooooooooooooooo.....thanks.
Nice work man!
Sweet pics man.
That south stand roof is going to be so high... I'm nervous about it.
Thanks for the pics. Is it me or the roof doesn't cover the East stand all the way south? Seems like some seats won't be under the roof there. I'm sure they will cover them though
good pics. east and west side roof's look amazing. will be very interested to see how the roof over the south meshes with the other two.
A big THANK YOU GabrielHurl for the pix.
I really enjoyed all the rainy games last year so if roof isn't functional 100% it's ok IMO
The old expansion video showed all the seats being covered. They are perhaps leaving those end pieces until the south roof is lifted into place and then they can be installed.
badass
brilliant photos, GabrielHurl, thank you.
if someone has already posted this, apologies, but it's well done and informative: http://www.torontofc.ca/post/2015/12...ovation-update
It may just be a rendering issue in this picture, but it shows the back end of the "canopy" being open (so air goes through the canopy fully). That isn't going to help "keep the sound in" as most people want, it would be much better if it was a filled in stand . I'm kinda dubious if a "floating canopy" is going to make much difference to the sound quality in the south end.
Southend canopy last i heard was going to be open, east and west closed in.
Something about awind study showed it wasn't necessary to close it in.
