I refuse to feel sorry for these guys after the last CBA - it was literally the best opportunity they could have ever asked for in terms of being in a strong negotiating position and they collectively threw it in the garbage.
That said, it was well publicized there were different factions and some people were dragged along.
They got free agency. That was the goal. The next CBA in 6 years, the players will be in a more favourable position because of that limited movement. Its already starting to change how teams approach acquiring players. We got Moor because of that BTW.
As for being waved/traded, that's sports in North America.
Free agency my ass. What they got was a convoluted and still very restrictive process. Lot of other things untouched that should have been improved.
It was a marginal improvement on a practical level but it was a big step for the league's concept of player management. Runs completely counter to the idea that the players are league employees who are assigned to franchises (which is, on an actual legal basis, what they are right now). I dream of a day without single entity, as far-fetched as that might be. We need a lot more incremental steps like this if that will ever happen.
The MLSPU will expand on the current limited movement achieved in this CBA
Sooooo... are we signing Babouli before Sunday's game or what?
Pretty sure that doesn't apply this year to Babouli. He was pretty obviously TFC2's best player last year.
For those who were questioning me on the ability for TFCII players to go on loan to the first team, the rules have been released.
2016 MLS Roster Rules
(J) USL SHORT TERM AGREEMENTS
MLS clubs may sign players from their USL affiliate to Short Term Agreements (up to four-day contracts) for CONCACAF Champions League, U.S. Open Cup, and exhibition matches. An MLS club may sign a player to a maximum of four short term agreements each season (maximum of 16 days).
USL Player Short Term Agreements in cases of Extreme Hardship
Clubs may sign players, 25-years-old or younger, from their USL affiliate (on loan) to a Short Term Agreement (up to four-day contracts) for MLS league season games only in cases of Extreme Hardship.
An MLS club may sign a player to a maximum of four Short Term Agreements each season (maximum of 16 days). During such time, the player may play in any U.S. Open Cup games, CONCACAF Champions League games, and exhibition games.
The extreme hardship rule should be known as the "Yes we know Bruce got away with it last year but he really shouldn't have" rule.

Magic Mo!
^ Congrats to him! I think he will be interesting to watch. Has a ton of skill and an eye for goal.
So did he make the trip to New Jersey?
It's official now: http://www.torontofc.ca/post/2016/03...molham-babouli
Just wondering now since the release doesn't mention it, but he must be a Homegrown Player, no?
Knowing Babouli's entourage, BMO's attendance just jumped another 1000 people.
Babouli graduates from his academy # and takes #11
