Good new about Kantari, not totally unexpected. The question remains if they can continue to clear out some of these defensive high price signings that clearly didn't work.

If that rumour of Perquis isn't true then I expect we will see him stay
With Kantari gone we now have (according to players' union salaries) about 145k more cap space than we had at the end of last season.
I see us signing a keeper and then standing pat. Bez will probably use general allocation to free up a little more room and wait until the summer window to add in an area of need.
The new TAM 800K does it have to be spent this year? or can it roll forward to next year?
I would bet heavily that we use our TAM this year.

okay cool so we have 800k this year 800k next year and 500k on top over the next 4 years... minus whatever we gave up to Portland in the WJ deal.
"Any of the $1.6 million in TAM funds per team that go unused by the end of the 2017 summer transfer window will revert back to the league."

Former #MUFC captain Nemanja Vidic a free agent after cancelling Inter contract http://ind.pn/1nfv6U8
Gotta be some sort of sweetheart deal to get him to DC United? Given Inter and DCU share an owner.
Wouldn't mind having Altidore if we had dat oil money in an uncapped league. Whatever he makes + the time he misses to injuries/national team duty make him a very bad deal for a DP.
Glad Kantari's gone. Another bad contract.
So what is the approximate amount of cap space we have left including the TAM?
Haven't seen much of him lately at Inter, but he was an absolute beast for MUFC.
They've still never properly replaced him since he left.
Not sure how much his legs have left, but if he's still fit, he could be a fantastic short-term signing... until some younger guys are ready to step up (Hagg, Zav, Simonin, etc.)
Vidic would be a great acquisition for any MLS team, if that's what he ends up doing.
No thanks.
At best, he's Nesta, with a red shirt background.
At worst, he's the other Julio Cesar.
What kind of money would Vidic be looking for?
Guzan benched for Villa today.
With them very likely being relegated at the end of the season, surely Guzan will be moving on in the summer anyway, but I wonder if Bradley & Jozy try to convince him to leave early?
No to Guzan. Too expensive and will be called up at every opportunity.
I'm putting 2+2 together here but it sure sounds like the Fire GM is talking about Vidic on the current conference call. New Fire coach is a Serb too.

I thought Vidic lost his legs 2-3 years ago?
I'm not exactly going to say no to any player just released by a club of Inter's stature, but I worry he's Frings 2.0 (ie would look great for 3 games, then get seriously hurt), and have trouble seeing why he'd come here for any other reason than money (which we don't have, with 3 DPs)
“What the world needs is more geniuses with humility; there are so few of us left.”
Add significant injuries to the fact that he was proably Inter's worst player last season and you have an overpaid aging player whose career is essentially over. I suppose he could do a job in a tactically poor league if he can stay somewhat healthy but he'd likely command more money than he's worth at this point.
If the CB the Fire are talking about is actually Vidic, they've said it would be a TAM signing and not DP.

Any thoughts on Felipe Melo?
The guy still has legs and is a world class talent IMO. He's mostly known for getting sent off for a dirty tackle during quarter finals in the last world cup...but I've watched a few Galatasaray games in the years passed, and have to admit that he is world class DM. Definitely bit of a hot head, but probably worth the risk. I don't know if we'd be able to get him on non-DP money though.
Fire have to land a DP this off season to save face after losing out on Jones and Drogba - if they choose Vidic they are going to be lambasted.
Mind you, think about those 3 for a moment.
Hothead 1 WC game wonder aged 33.
38 year old.
Knackered former Man U dude.
Somebody needs to do an intervention with the Fire.
Don't the fire already have Gilberto, Accam and igboananike as DP's? I would guess they could buy Accam down to add another but they more need to add quality to other areas of their roster.
