Both Beit and Johnson are trade targets with Beit.

No TAM will be used on any of these moves unless a move with portland sent some as part of the deal (if a deal happens). So we should have some fairly significant space we have to use this year, 2 players making 550k added to this lineup (cap hit of 150) would make us very interesting.

So how many CB's is that now? If they haven't already communicated to each of them their role for next year (or that someone else is on the way out) they must all be getting worried.

Conference call at noon. Still plenty of time for another addition or two to be announced

Odd man out has to be Kantari. Williams as a 3rd makes sense, with the young guys battling it out for that final 4th spot. Although, there's always the possibility they see LCB and RCB as different positions (some coaches do).

Great to see it confirmed, Beitashour news should be coming soon as well. Expecting Kantari to be bought out now for sure.

Kantari has to go. Assuming we gave Moor the max 15% raise we'd be up to $1.3 million for the 6 CBs on our roster right now.

I could see potentially more moves outside of Kantari. There are a lot of guys battling for those last spots and the academy has a decent looking crop at CB.

Kantari has to be bought out.

They might also look to trade one of Zavaletta/Hagglund/Simonin.
I think they keep Williams as depth for his versatility.

Is Moor the first legitimate stud CB in our history?

Caldwell was pretty close, but he was already on the tail end of his career when we signed him.

Cool with me. Probably means he doesn't drink or do anything that would be harmful to his body.

Off topic but that doesn't mean anything, e.g. Josh duggar

Quick math on the moves so far, plus a little projecting...

    Out:

    Findley - 255k
    Jackson - 192k
    Bendik - 157k
    Konopka - 66k
    Kantari - 345k (free buy-out)

Aparicio was also released but he would have been part of roster slots 21-28 and thus didn't count against the cap.

    Total: 1.015 million

    In:

    Moor - 311k (assuming max 15% raise)
Beitashour - 226k (again a 15% raise, though this could be less)
Johnson - 334k (last year of his current contract, we'd have to take this on)

    Total: 871k

These moves would leave us with 144k to work with vs. what we had on our books last year, generally assumed to be pretty tight against the cap. After these moves the biggest need would be starting GK, then a DM. We know for a fact we'll be signing a keeper at the very least. We have a lot of TAM to use, but you still need to fit potentially two more guys under the cap with their reduced budget charges (unless you buy down their entire cap hit - if you're allowed to do that).

If we do sign Johnson, it seems like we're getting pretty close to where we were last year but still with a significant piece or two missing. So I wouldn't be surprised to see Zavaleta traded for some allocation money or a draft pick. I say Zavaleta because Williams is the clear #3, management is very high on Simonin, and Hagglund probably has no cap hit (part of roster slots 21-28, and even if he does he only earns 60k, like Simonin). Moving Zavaleta would save another 115k and make it much easier to fit two guys in with the TAM we have.

It's funny how quick Larson and Wheeler were to broadcast the official statement the TFC hadn't signed Moor after Molinaro broke the story

John has never led us wrong expect maybe intially with the Giovinco stuff. I can't stand Larson these days personally..

Anyway great work by Bez. If we can get the RB spot confirmed we are on the right track. Solid MLS veterans while cutting off the fat. Very encouraging signs.

Not that I ever bought into it myself, but we can pretty much drop the narrative that players don't want to come here due to past failures.

John is the cream of the crop when it comes to soccer coverage in this market. He report in my mind was never in doubt it just came down to some MLSE PR semantics at work that made a difference between agreeing to terms and being signed. It was all rather silly in my mind.

Moor's actually undersized, too. Garcia had a good rep until he lost his speed, although I sure as hell hope Moor has better positional sense.
