“Years have gone by and I’ve finally learned to accept myself for who I am: a beggar for good football.
I go about the world, hand outstretched, and in the stadiums I plead: ‘A pretty move, for the love of God.’
And when good football happens, I give thanks for the miracle and I don’t give a damn which team or country performs it.”
-Eduardo Galeano
I foresee a bank break on the GK position since it's an easier fix than getting that one guy that can only help to fix the back so much.
FORMER FULL TIME KOOL-AID DRINKER
There's rumors of Palermo goalie (sorry cant remeber his name) in the mix.
Rumor that Union are looking to trade Maidana
Altidore for Maidana? lol
A strong experienced GK can organize the defense. I suspect there is an experienced GK lined up since both older GK were released.
Goaltending is usually the last worry on field, too.
I look forward to them overpaying(because that's what they do most times) for a veteran Keeper that hopefully has been strong in THIS league. They've already overpaid for some of the backline so those will be harder spots to fill with quality. On that I'm sure we agree.
FORMER FULL TIME KOOL-AID DRINKER
Definitely second-last to a first-pairing defenseman.
Seriously though, I think GK is that one position where it really doesn't matter where the player has honed his skills, so long as he had skills to hone. Keeping the ball out of the net doesn't come in many styles. I would gladly use an international spot on an experienced keeper and give him good MLS money, the importance of a solid GK is criminally undervalued.
Goaltending was a major issue and should definitely be one of the top priorities this off season. There's no point addressing the issues on the backline if we don't have a legitimate starting goalkeeper at this level. Last season we had two guys who might be no better than a 3rd stringer on a good MLS club.
I think Johnson is going to leave Portland. If there is one guy who is a friend of Bradley I'd take a flyer on, at the right price, it would be him.
These guys represent Jack Jewsbury with Portland.

So what would our line-up look like? Based on those released and expecting Kantari to be bought out I'd hope WJ would slot in as our DM
-----------------New GK----------------
Bloom----Perquis---New CB---Morrow
----------------Johnson---------------
-New----------Bradley---------Oso---
-------Altidore----------Seba---------
my guess would be:
-----------Altidore----------
Seba -----Bradley ------ Osorio
---Cheyrou/DM--Johnson----
Morrow -- Perquis -- CB ---Bloom
------------GK----------------
