There is a reason why Celtic fans called O'Dea O'Dear!
Glad Bendik is gone. Not with malice but he's simply not a starter.
Last post on O'Dea, I promise. If he's available for mid 200's, I'd take him for depth due to his versatility. Considering Zavaleta and Bloom are on almost $200k I'd rather consolidate the depth to somebody better; we have no room for $100k placeholders.
Since when are Zavaletta and Bloom on almost 200k? I don't have the salary list in front of me since I'm on mobile but surely that's not the case. You don't pay 200k to guys like that
I honestly don't see why media savvy-ness is a characteristic of someone you want to be on your athletic club - he is not a good interview; some people are that way. If you saw him in the All for One series when he's helping with fundraising for autism (which i believe a family member of his has) you can see he has more life in him then when he interviews because he's doing something he's passionate about - just like when he's on the field.
I never understand why anyone wants to interview him - he's good for a good, honest quote sometimes, i guess? He actually makes himself available? I don't know, but hey, at least he does 'em.
What I don't understand is why Orlando gave up anything for him when they could have had him for nothing in the re-entry draft
Totera tweeting that "a Top NO.1 GK will be on their way soon."

Okay fair - but if they are outside of the top 20 salaries or whatever I believe the cap hit is nil in anycase? So that might actually work against us.
Side note: didn't Warner tweet something alluding to this being the end of his run with TFC at the end of the season?
Of note is that we have 27 of 28 roster slots filled at the moment, highest in the league. That means after we sign a keeper, if we want to bring in anybody else we will have to move someone out, or permanently loan someone to TFC II (if that's allowed).
My guess- Stefano Sorrentino. He played with Bradley at Chievo.
Veteran Serie A keeper, out of contract next year.
MLS can probably sign him for $600-700K or similar, and TFC would use TAM to keep him non DP.
Palermo are not in good shape financially. The club is for sale, and selling players.

Wouldn't surprise me to see someone like Lovitz go this offseason.
We had the rumors a while ago about Boakai coming in and i hope that it does happen.
I'm very curious as to which keeper the braintrust has targeted. I'm not sure if I agree with the TAM being used to fill that position, but if it's a legitimate top keeper with international pedigree, it might be justified.
Glad we've parted with Bendik. My hope is that we pick up a legitimate No.1 and then have Q and Bono be our backups on a rotational basis. That way both still will get playing time in USL to stay fit.
All the best to Bendik is OC, but he just wasn't a No.1 for us over the last couple of years.
If TFC blows $400K in TAM on a keeper, that will still leave another $400K in TAM for another player (stud DM?)
600K on a 36 year old keeper?? No thanks.

Google is saying Sorrentino is on 450EUR. Maybe we could get him (or someone in that price range) under the cap on a new contract. Given American taxation and the step to a lower league, it's not out of the question that someone making $500K USD in a top league would sign for under $375K USD here.
Just want to add to that, that I'm referring to a keeper (or any player for that matter) that's in the twilight of their career.
Not uncommon for guys of his calibre to still have it at 36. Goalies have gotten older across the board.
You can tell a lot from stats and save percentage vs chances; did he have any major dropoffs last year or this (so far)?
I'd suggest it's not ideal to shoot for someone 36, but if he's still a premier-quality keeper, then I doubt he'll be a downgrade.
I don't know if he's signed a new deal yet, but Mexican-born U.S. nats keeper William Yarborough's deal at Leon should be up right about now. Might be a free agent soon.
Does Sorrentino even speak English?
I'm beginning to think that you're trying to misinterpret my point; but I'm finished on the subject.
He would be a great signing. He's old but seems to be in good shape and has been in great form for what I've seen of him this year. If he can stone Inter's attack then I'm pretty sure he's more than capable of performing in MLS.
While we're prying players from Palermo, maybe we can ask for a certain veteran striker in their ranks as well, LOL.
(For those not in the know, Gilardino is playing for Palermo right now)
Didn't we negotiate a whole deal with Gilardino then call it off once we got Defoe's signature? Don't think he'd be too interested in us lol
