    Default April 29 - May 1st - Other Games

A lot of teams out there trying to turn around a so far not good enough season

That and 6 East vs West games

    Friday

Dallas at NYRB 7 pm - see what we play next week

    Saturday

San Jose at Philly 4 pm - Philly surprising this season so far as is San Jose

Colorado at Montreal 430 pm - Good test for both teams

Vancouver at NYCFC 4 pm - NYCFC is desperate for points

Columbus at Seattle 4 pm - 2 teams underwhelming right now

DCU at Chicago 5 pm - This is going to be ugly

Orlando at NER 730 pm - Larin against those not all that good defenders while all those quick forwards vs no decent DM - should be a shot fest at least

Houston at RSL 930 pm - ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ RSL has some injuries while Houston ain't really going anywhere - so likely a 4-1 Houston win

    Sunday

LAG at SKC 8 pm - Good test for the Western flavour of the week

Dallas midfield getting out hustled by NYRB. Dallas relies upon speed and the counter.

Dallas in disarray - likely to change around their defensive line for us next week.

Yes, Pareja will give this a rethink.

I wondered if RB might be getting some of its act together, but didn't expect them to slice through FCD like this.

Iirc Dallas is missing their 2 starting CBs

They are missing Matt Hedges (captain and CD) but they haven't really settled on a second CD. Zach Loyd and Figueroa are not really cutting it, their lack of size not helping. I suspect they will play Zimmerman next week.

Vancouver's defence is not all that good either. Turnover in front of their box and they leave Villa free.

But gosh how long can NYCFC keep Josh Saunders as their keeper - horrid giveaway in the first 30 seconds of that game to give Vancouver that goal.

LOL Vancouver picks its own player from going out to cover Villa. Training ground goal Pirlo to Villa.

Nah, Brillant held Parker then held Laba as he was trying to rush out to Villa. Crafty as hell but realistically that should be called a foul (hard to blame refs for missing it with all the pushing and shoving on every corner).

I watched it in slo mo on MLS Live. Its actually the Vancouver guy who is being held who held Laba. I agree its a pic play and between that goal and the pic play done last night by NYRB, I suspect a few words will go out about that sort of stuff.

The last 6 minutes of that NER Orlando match was fun. If you have MLS Live, go back and watch it. Goals, saves, posts, near misses, bodies flying....you'd think these teams care about this time of the season.

So out of the 8 eastern teams who played today only 1 winner. 6 teams dropped 2 points and one dropped all 3. Great day for TFC.
We pull off the win tomorrow we go top.......frickin top after 8 games on the road......crazy shit

Watching RSL play Houston you begin to see why the West tends to win more. More settled squads, more depth in squads, more organized in their tactics.

There's always exceptions but long term success in this league comes from cohesion through settled squads while developing players and bringing them in judiciously. And through having a vision for how you want your team to play.

In the West, every single team except Houston has that identity and long term vision. Seattle is likely to see a change in the next 2 seasons with Lagerway taking over as President and Sigi probably retiring. But, they'll have an approach and you can see it in who they bring in that's younger.

In the East, I see that vision and approach now in NYRB, in NER (although I think their plan is flawed),in CBus and, finally, in us - everybody else seems to be just throwing stuff up there and hoping something sticks long enough to get into the playoffs.

I've been pretty vocal about how much better the West has been over the last few years. Have to say that my opinion is starting to change. I watched most of the Dallas NYRB game and frankly thought Dallas were dire. Whitecaps have really fallen backwards there last 5-6 signings have all been worse than the players they replaced. There is no team to fear in he West right now. I'm really optimistic about a result tomorrow. Hoping for a MOtM from Johnson.
