Default Congratulations to our General Bradley

    http://www.foxsports.com/soccer/story/us-national-team-michael-bradley-named-captain-for-concacaf-gold-cup-070115

The General has been named captain of the USMNT for the upcoming Gold Cup after the Dempsey incident in the US Open. This is great to see for such a leader as we have seen with the Reds this season. For TFC he has been relentless with his fight on the pitch as captain of the Reds. Congrats to him on taking the next step in his great career.

The drama that would cause on big soccer and social media would be fun but I suggest Bradley would get kinda caught up in the crossfire.

They can lose to us in the final through an own goal by Dempsey.

Who is this General Bradley fellow? Is he related to The General?

May he score in every game and lose 2-1.

Are US supporters happy with him as captain?

I thought they turned a little bit sour on him when he joined us and then they seemed to shit on him for his WC performance.

I'd be shocked if they didn't already mostly want him as the captain full time right now.

Putting aside personality issues (and there are a lot of them), Dempsey will be 35 in Russia. Bradley will be 30.

There is a real chance that Dempsey won't even be on the team in 3 years.

They are a fickle lot - his performances against GER and NED got them all back on his bandwagon.

All it will take is one bad pass early in their first game of the Gold Cup, and it will be back to the narrative.

And I always thought that going from a General to a Captain was a demotion.

Captains are more likely to get wounded than Generals.

USMNT announces another friendly on sept 8th vs Brazil. So with a friendly vs Peru on sept 4th, can expect to lose Bradley/Altidore for yet another game (sept 5th vs Seattle).

This brings the total of games missed due to International to 6. October/Nov friendlies not yet announced so who knows about those.

At best Bradley will be available for 30 out of 36 TFC games. For the US he has already participated in 10 friendlies (with a potential of 14) and probably will see 6 GC matches.

30 for TFC vs 20 for USMNT

More DPs from very strong National programs (like Gionvico) and less USMNT DPs please.

It's not a foregone conclusion they would play those friendlies in Sept and later if TFC is not comfortably in playoff position.

It is an official international match window but I can see MB opting out if TFC is fighting for playoff spot.

I miss you Michael Bradley more than the sun misses the sky at night. You may be out of sight, but the void you left cannot be filled. My hole in my heart can only be filled knowing you miss me just as much.

    No Purple Hearts either!
