Default Game 16: Late Night in Carson - LAG host TFC Saturday July 4 10:30pm RS360

LA has been up and down all season. No Gerrard yet.

We are missing a lot more players then them. Unlikely to send Cheyrou that distance with him coming back still.

Get ready for a midfield of Warner, Delgago, Jackson and Chapman.

A tie would be a good result.

It's always hard for eastern teams to play out west in evening games. Their bodies will be telling them it's bedtime. I see a 3-1 loss in the offering.

So who plays in the middle with Warner? Cravalle is likely going to play RB. Is Chapman or Delgado capable of starting in that advanced mid role?
Does that mean it's Findley and Jackson on the wing with Moore and Giovinco up front? That actually sounds decent but it's the other compromises that scare me.

I don't see TFC winning this one, but at least it's against a Western opponent.

Although one never knows, the parity in this league makes for some interesting results.

Oh look, LAG has a cup game before this on Wedneday. Just like NYCFC the other week. Not sure this helps or not. SJE thwacked them on the weekend but LAG has a really good ability to ignore the past.

A lot depends on Seba, of course. LA's defense is not exactly fleet of foot or rock solid.

I hope you're as accurate as the last time you made that scoreline prediction.

Right now we can beat anybody in this league, and we need all the points we can get.

I wouldn't count TFC out for this match, though as Initial B said, night games on the West Coast can be really daunting for Eastern clubs. However, LA does have a US Open Cup match away at San Jose on Wednesday so that could be to our advantage. Also, LA is expected to experience below seasonal temperatures this week leading up to kick-off on Saturday. 26c and cloudy on Thursday, 26c and cloudy on Friday, and 27c with clouds (again) on Saturday expected. Trane is right, when this squad is running on all cylinders, we can compete with anyone in MLS - including LAG.

My best guess at the starting XI:

    Konopka
    Creavalle - Perquis - Zavaleta - Morrow
    Warner
    Delgado - - Jackson
    Chapman
    Giovinco - Findley

Maybe, but Findley was the sub for Altidore in the last two games, and Moore didn't get off the bench. I think Vanney still prefers Findley over Moore when fit. I wouldn't be surprised if Findley started and Moore subbed him out, since Findley is also coming back from an injury IIRC

Speculation by the journo's last week was he would have been ready to get some time in if we had a home game this weekend but not for the flight.

I'm thinking he starts in New York.

Moore produced when he played for Altidore. I think Findley and his speed is better as a sub, esp if he's not match fit yet

Didn't we beat them away in 2008? I recall Dichio scoring a sweet goal and I think Cunningham?

If we could do it way back then, we can do it with this lineup.

I'd take a draw if offered right now, though.

This is most likely. I'd like to see the following:

    Konopka
    Creavalle - Perquis - Zavaleta - Morrow
    Mannella
    Warner - - Delgado
    Chapman
    Giovinco - Moore

1)I just think possession dies when Jackson is on the field, especially when combination play is needed in a diamond. There is also defensive solidarity on the right side with an erratic Creavalle and finally, this would a good game to ease Mannella into the set up. I know it's LAG and Robbie Keane but they're also a low-pressing team.

Manella ain't ready to handle a DM start in LA vs. that offence. Needs to be brought in games first to get his feet wet. Warner can play the DM in the diamond.

Creavalle at RB still scares me. I'm warming up to him in mid, but, he tends to get caught up frequently when defending. Unfortunately Hagglund wasn't any better in that spot against Dallas. Whichever one plays the spot, Vanney is going to have to drill positional play into their heads.
I'll take a draw with this line up.

We are terrible away at LA and once hack a Seba fest is allowed, we would be lucky to escape a point.

Frankly I expect Alan Gordon killer in injury time for the loss
