Well this isn't a place that subscribes to jinxdom. Feel free to hold your personal view but as we're all following one of, if not the best thing to happen to this team with interest I won't be holding my breath or curbing my tracking this phenomenal part of our teams history.

He's just done a Q&A with the guardian. He certainly gives great interview.

Q:You joined Toronto just days after Jermain Defoe left the club. A lot of fans were very disappointed by Defoe leaving because he was a very high-profile addition. Did you feel pressure at the time to fill the role that Defoe had left?

    Seba: No.

Just watched a Q&A interview with Stevie Gerrard. Was asked who he thought the best player in MLS was, answered with no hesitation Giovinco. Full of glowing praise for Seba, nice to hear from someone who knows the game so well.

While I appreciate the intent, you can't "tempt fate", that's a misnomer.

Fate, by definition, is a result. A result, again by definition, can't preclude the cause of its own existence.

    True, one can't tempt fate.

He tied De Rosario's mark for all-time goals for the club in MLS play today.

    Ridiculous, indeed.

I've said it before: I'm quietly hoping he DOES make the Italian national team squad, as it's what he wants and will make him feel like he can stay put, with us, without sacrificing his chances playing for his country. Then again, I suppose the attention he would garner playing in the Euros could ramp up the pressure on him to move on.

He seems to really and truly be happy in Toronto, though, with his family having settled in, nicely. Every time I've seen it come up, he has said he's not interested in going anywhere else. Again, the offers will probably get more tempting, but it's hard to see him breaking up a good thing, here, if everything goes his way—I mean, he's thirty next year; probably not looking to shake things up too much, at this point in his career, and really just wants to play as much football as possible.

Truly grateful to have him on our side!

All time now tied with Jozy Altidore. And then he passed to Jozy when he could've taken much the same shot he scored with.

    Now chasing Joao Plata.

Didn't this thread start as a question? I think that the question has been answered.

Is Giovinco the best player ever in the MLS???? Yes.

    Done.

Landycakes begs to differ. If Giovinco consistently puts up high stats number for another couple of years, then he can claim to be the best player in MLS ever.

    yup.

he's had the best single season performance. But to give him the best title ever - then he needs more years under his belt.

Donovan (and others) have had better MLS careers, while Giovinco is the best player to ever play in the league (at the time of actually playing in it).

Ladycakes???? Seriously???? Lets get serious. As notthesun, he has had a great MLS career, but he is not close to Giovinco as a player.

The thread was started as an answer. ; )

I will also tell you this:

If Seba gets called up to Italy, he will not win the Golden Boot, as much as I hate to say it, David Villa will win it this year.

Agreed. and Seba is probably the best player to have ever played in this league, But, you have to admit, to really solidify his mark as best ever mls player - he needs at least another season or two in the league.

I don't disagree that Giovinco is a better player than Donovan individually.

But best MLS player ever also has to take some sort of longevity in the league into account.

    Yohan/jabbronies,

I cannot say that you are wrong, but it is a different measuring stick. I am not sure that Giovinco will be around the league long enough to be able to go for that. At best I would think he would stay here for what 5 years.
